The Chinese literature major is a relatively recent addition to the course list at Osaka University. It comprises the study of literature and various issues to do with people, such as the politics, economics, history, language, philosophy, and arts of the classical period. While the course respects the tradition of Chinese studies, it offers students a fresh and energetic approach to the subject.

This bachelor's degree is intended for international students whose Chinese proficiency is above elementary level and who expect to improve their Chinese language, literature, and culture. Graduates of this major are supposed to become Chinese professionals with high comprehensive qualities.

The faculty of Literature has two departments, the Department of Japanese Literature and the Department of Chinese Literature. In their second year, students may choose a concentration from among 10 courses.

This major is a first-class professional construction point in Jiangsu Province, a specialty of Jiangsu Province, and the discipline of Chinese Language and Literature it relies on is a key construction discipline in Jiangsu Province.

SZU offers various programs taught in Chinese, for example, Chinese Language and Literature, Electronic Science and Technology, Human Resource Management, etc. We also offer students two programs taught in English: Business Administration and International Trade and Economics.

The Contemporary China Studies Programme consists of three parts: Academic courses, a language course and an internship.
