The Contemporary China Studies Programme consists of three parts: Academic courses, a language course and an internship.

Since September 2020, SBC and USST offer students a fantastic and unique opportunity to earn both a British bachelor degree and a Chinese bachelor degree. If international students have a strong desire to learn Chinese, they can be dual enrolled. After four years of study at SBC, students can earn both a British bachelor degree certificate from Sheffield Hallam University and a Chinese bachelor degree certificate from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST).

The program is the first major of chemical engineering and chemical process established in China, ranks top 1 ‰ of ESI in the world. The graduates from this major mainly enter various chemical-related production and design enterprises such as petroleum, chemical industry, energy, environmental protection, etc.; do teaching and scientific research in universities; and also work on technical trade and management. They are welcomed by employers.

The TourismManagement Program with specialization in tourism services management and international tour guides has eight full-time faculty members, with three professors and two associate professors. The Program has an internship studio and a simulated travel services company named Hera, which is run independently by the students. In addition to classroom lectures, the Program provides students with opportunities for on-site learning and global travel promotion training. IT-based information management systems for travel agencies and hotels are being introduced to the Program. The student exchange program in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UClan) in Britain allows students to have an enriching international learning experience. Faculty members also involve students in their research projects based on students' specific academic interests to advance their research skills and broaden their horizons. The students have received many prizes, awards, and honors, such as the Grand Prize in the National EnglishContest and the Third Prize in the Challenge Cup of the NationalEntrepreneurial Design Competition contested by university students nationwide. The Program strives to become a preeminent think tank providing expert policy advice to tourism authorities in Shanghai and beyond. Graduates from the Tourism Management Program have good employment prospects, and some choose to further their studies in domestic and overseas universities, for example, in 2011, many students have admitted to master's programs in renowned universities such as BeijingUniversity, Fudan University, Shanghai University of Finance andEconomics, University of Central Lancashire, and Swiss HotelManagement School.

This course is suitable for those who wish to change careers, for qualified Landscape Architects who want to update their skills, or for anyone wanting to undertake an accredited Masters of Landscape Architecture at UTS via the Graduate Certificate in Landscape Architecture. Based on prior experience and faculty advice, applicants choose from the wide range of studio, technical and theory subjects taught in the undergraduate program to create a tailored curriculum such as the example provided under the course program.

The Graduate Certificate in Animation and Visualisation has been developed in partnership with the industry-leading digital animation studio Animal Logic and is offered through the UTS Animal Logic Academy. The course develops creative professional practice, conceptual skills and technical dexterity in animation and visualisation production. Under the guidance and mentorship of practitioners and leaders from the industry, learning takes place in a custom-built digital production studio modelled on real-world production work structure and engineered to the highest industry standards, with tools and technologies that are leading the animation and visualisation industries into the future.

The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration provides foundation skills used in the general management of a business enterprise for either non-graduates who have extensive business experience or those looking to gain more of a business understanding. The course encompasses the ethos of practice-based learning, social justice, inclusion, and research with real-world impact. In addition to the on-campus degree, UTS offers an online Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

The Graduate Certificate of Screen Arts and Production: Documentary is a chance to attain a short and targeted post-graduate qualification for students wishing to deepen, enhance or reframe their skills as a present or future drama practitioner in the screen industries. In this three-subject course, students complete one core subject focused on documentary screen storytelling and complement it with two out of six production-focused electives to round out their experience. The Graduate Certificate in Screen Arts and Production: Documentary is a stand-alone course that can be taken full-time or part-time.
