The biochemistry program at Binghamton University is a joint effort of the biological sciences and chemistry departments. The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry provides a rigorous curriculum and strong foundation in core chemistry and biology courses, with the option of the Pre-Health Professions Emphasis or the Research Emphasis. Additional course requirements provide a foundation in related fields (physics and mathematics), as well as breadth to the study of biochemistry.

Loras College Biochemistry program provides students the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in chemical principles and to apply their training in the lab. This foundation enables Biochemistry graduates to pursue a very wide range of options after graduation including graduate school or a chemistry-related field; going directly into the workforce for a career in the chemical industry, government, education, engineering, forensic science, or the law; or entering interdisciplinary fields such as medicine, dentistry, other health professions, education and more.

The Chemistry Department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry as well as a minor in Chemistry. Students may also choose to double major in Biochemistry and Biology or Biochemistry and Chemistry. The department also provides advising and coursework for students interested in applying to pharmacy school.

Our Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology degree prepares students who wish to pursue advanced degrees in biotechnology, molecular biology, or medicine. The major consists of 24 semester hours of chemistry and 23 semester hours of biology coursework.

Biology: Molecular & Biochemistry is one of two Biology tracks. This track often leads students to careers in the health sciences (medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy), microbiology, and immunology. Our comprehensive active-learning approach prepares students to pursue a variety of postgraduate studies. Some students enter careers immediately after graduation as teachers, laboratory technicians, and pharmaceutical sales representatives. Others go on to post-graduate studies in medical, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, and pharmacy.

Biochemistry is a challenging field, and Moravian's major is designed to help students develop their skills to meet its challenges.
