In 2005, some of the most dynamic students of the Bachelor's degree program in Automotive Engineering decided to participate in the inter-university competition organized by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) to design and produce a race car capable of passing several tests, from design to engineering efficiency. That was the first 46 car. From then on, they have competed, every year, at some of the main European motor racing tracks in which the Formula SAE is held: Hockenheim, Barcelona, and Varano. 

Automotive Engineering combines the science of mechanics, electricals and materials, which provides students with the basic principles of engineering together with the modern vehicle design requirements in terms of safety, fuel economy and industrial manufacturing.

The Bachelor's degree program in Automotive Systems Engineering gives you an overview of the big picture when it comes to the optimal interaction of a wide range of mechanical and electronic components in and around the car. You will learn how vehicles become what we demand of them today.

Graduates will demonstrate basic knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering; the ability to design and conduct experiments, interpret and analyze data, and report results; the ability to design automotive systems or their separate units; the ability to function on engineering and science laboratory teams, as well as on multidisciplinary design teams; the ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems; an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibilities.

Automotive Engineering Technology graduates possess a strong understanding of automotive principles, mobility design, performance modeling and testing, and mechanical fundamentals and much more. Engineers use their imagination and knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry to devise, apply and manage the technologies that are fundamental to the wellbeing and advancement of society. This programme is based on our Mechanical Engineering programme but allows students in the later years to specialise in subjects relating to automotive technology.

Our goal is to BSc in Vehicle Engineering who will be able to solve basic engineering tasks related to the design, manufacturing, systemic operation and repair of road-vehicle systems and mobile machines, taking into consideration aspects of safety, environmental protection, and energy management.

This degree offers the in-depth technical training and hands-on experience you need to build industry-ready skills and thrive in the fast-paced automotive industry. You first gain a broad basis of knowledge before specialising in rapidly developing areas such as automotive systems and electric vehicles, all while benefiting from practical collaboration with industry leaders. In addition, you develop the problem-solving and critical-thinking skills needed to succeed in this progressive field.

Mechanical engineers are involved in the design and manufacture of products and systems that affect us all, with expertise relevant to many organisations. You'll learn general mechanical engineering, and gain highly sought-after simulation skills and an understanding of business and project management. Specialist subjects include applied mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and electronics.

Graduates of the programme Automotive Production Technologies are able to work in the automotive industry in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Graduates possess necessary knowledge in the area of technical materials used in automotive technology, automobile components inspection as well as final sub-assembly and assembly.

Students studying Mechanical Engineering International can choose a specialization in their 4th semester. Students who choose to specialize in Mobility Systems profit from the fact that the automotive industry is Germany’s largest industry sector with a turnover of approximately 404 billion Euros in 2015, covering 20% of Germany`s industry revenues overall. Ten out of the 100 largest automotive suppliers have either their headquarters or one of their subsidiaries near Karlsruhe. At the KIT more than 40 institutes with 800 scientists are conducting research for safer, more comfortable and more efficient cars.

Our goal is to train vehicle engineers who will be able to solve basic engineering tasks related to the design, manufacturing, systemic operation, and repair of road-vehicle systems and mobile machines, taking into consideration aspects of safety, environmental protection, and energy management. It is important for our students to possess an interest in natural sciences, to be diligent, and to have a “team player” attitude, as well as a positive approach to acquiring new knowledge.

The education and training of students of the Bachelor study programme Automotive Production is aimed at gaining theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of advanced materials, technologies, and analytical tools in designing car components, organizing their production and assembly with the support of CAx technologies. 

The graduates in Electronic and Automation Engineering have the scientific / technological knowledge that allows them to carry out projects of construction, assembly and use of any structure or system related to electronics and automation.
