Led by research-active practitioners, our BEng (Hons) Acoustical and Audio Engineering will equip you with the skills to create a better-sounding world. For 60 years, the University of Salford has been a pioneer of acoustics teaching and is recognised by the UK Institute of Acoustics. You’ll study on our green Peel Park campus and use world-class acoustics facilities including an anechoic chamber, transmission suites, reverberation chambers, listening rooms and audiometric test facilities. Our BSc (Hons) Audio Engineering degree is one of five exciting courses in the Undergraduate Music program. A technical and varied course covering a range of topics including acoustics, sound recording and capture, reinforcement, and signal processing; as well as advanced sound signal theory, sound synthesis and processing, audio electronics (including making your own sound tools), multichannel and immersive mixing, mastering, re-mastering and restoration.

The BSc (Hons) Music and Sound Design Technology course are designed for students who wish to interrogate music and media through music, sound design and immersive audio applications.  Focus is placed on sound and music as a component of multimedia, including the world of sound design as a creative process.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to fully immerse yourself in your passion for music whilst also gaining a BA (Hons) degree. It is multi-platform (Logic or Ableton, Pro Tools, and Native Instruments), intensive and practical.

On our Astrophysics BSc (Hons) degree you will study the cosmos in all its wonder, gaining a detailed physical understanding of how the Universe works. We put a lot of emphasis on understanding the physical and mathematical principles behind astrophysical phenomena.

Now’s your chance to learn all the key elements that go into a soundtrack by taking our BA (Hons) in Sound Design. The course will prepare you for careers in sound and music, where you could be working for TV, film, animation, theatre, radio or games.
