Asian Studies (ASIA) is an interdisciplinary field of academic inquiry that focuses on the study of Asia, its diverse cultures, societies, histories, languages, politics, economies, and environments. It encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including history, anthropology, sociology, political science, economics, literature, linguistics, religious studies, and more, all with a specific focus on Asian regions and countries.

As an Asian Studies student you will begin your first year of studies with courses that introduce you to Asian Studies as a discipline and to the countries and cultures of East and South Asia.

Asia is the home of the most ancient and longest-lived civilizations the world has witnessed and of most of the world’s present population. Moreover, recent history would be impossible to write without frequent reference to Asia. Many of the momentous events of modern times can be evoked by the names of Asian countries: Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Southeast Asian countries, and Middle Eastern countries.
