The BSc Applied Chemistry provides you with a broad understanding of applied chemistry, drawing on the Department of Chemistry’s emerging research strengths in new materials, clean and renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

The Department of Chemistry offers two Bachelor of Science degree emphases under the heading of Applied Chemistry: Environmental Chemistry and Forensic Chemistry. The B.S. emphasis in Applied Chemistry fall outside of the classical chemistry degree and instead draw on significant course material from areas relevant to their particular fields.

The Chemistry major prepares students to enter the chemical industry, agriculture, the food industry, environmental protection, health sciences, energy, and government. A bachelors degree in chemistry also provides excellent pre-professional education for those seeking careers in chemistry, the health professions or law, particularly environmental regulatory law and patent law.
