Ankara is the capital of Turkey and, among Istanbul, has the multitude of 13 universities, three institutes and many different private and public schools. Itโ€™s also known for institutes, concert halls, opera and ballet and other products of high culture.

An American literature program typically focuses on studying many different genres of famous works. Students usually will be encouraged to read and discuss pieces from writers such as Earnest Hemmingway, Herman Melville and Mark Twain.

Universities in Turkey provide either two or four years of education for undergraduate studies, while graduate programs last a minimum of two years. There are around 820 higher education institutions in Turkey including 76 universities with a total student enrollment of over 1 million. The quality of education at the Turkish universities varies greatly, some providing education and facilities on par with internationally renowned schools.

A bachelor's degree is given to students who fulfill the necessary requirements given by the college or university they are attending. The requirements include three to seven years of focus on a subject, typically referred to as a major or concentration.
