Lock Haven University was founded in 1870 as a teacher’s college called the Central State Normal School. So, we have a long history of excellence in training Pennsylvania’s educators. Today, we’re still one of the best in the state for teacher preparation.

One of the strengths of the BA degree is its adaptability. Many students who choose to double major select the BA, as it allows ample space to complete courses in a second major. For example, students who intend to go on to graduate school for Art Therapy will often double major in Art and Psychology. Other disciplines that connect well as a double majors for careers are Art with Mass Communications, Art with Business, and Art with Computer Science. Past art majors have completed all of these double majors pairings and have found them to be excellent preparation for their careers goals.

This flexible program allows students to select courses from a wide variety of studio art and art history offerings. Selecting an area of specialization will introduce you to both traditional and contemporary art media and content. LHU’s accounting program focuses on decision modeling, risk analysis and measurement, and reporting of financial information. Baccalaureate degree students may wish to enhance their major program of study with knowledge of the basic principles of business. A Minor in Business will provide these students with a general overview of fundamental business concepts and terminology and an introduction to professional business skills.
