The mission of the Montreat College Teacher Education program is to prepare teachers to be leaders and innovators for the 21st Century classroom. The purpose of our program is to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, expertise, and support systems they will need to succeed in work, life, and citizenship. In responding to the Christian calling to the ministry of education, 21st century teacher leaders and innovators must be prepared to teach the necessary skills and literacies in a manner that engages all students in the learning process.

Our Criminal Justice program prepares students to directly enter a career in law enforcement or other criminal justice professions upon graduation. Graduates will be able to pursue criminal justice careers or a graduate or professional degree. Bureau of Labor Statistics Data indicate median pay of almost $63,000 for police and detectives and an average or better job outlook.

Educational Studies is a non-certification program that prepares students to work outside the traditional classroom setting. Students in the Educational Studies program will develop a better understanding of the teaching and learning process in order to work in organizations that support the development of children, youth, and adults.

Our Art minor offers a strong foundation in the classical method. In each studio course, the elements and principles of visual art are approached through observation, interpretation, and response. Although formalism is taught and encouraged, it’s woven into the resulting artwork rather than standing alone as abstract method. Faculty members will help you integrate a frame for perception that can guide your process of decision-making and problem solving—which are effective thinking skills for creating works of art or for other areas of your life.

The Accounting program gives students the background needed to meet the requirements and challenges of current-day financial management.
