Geography B.A. integrates concepts from physical and social sciences as well as humanities to address current issues of local, national, and international importance. The Liberal Studies B.A. major provides students with the unique opportunity to pursue their academic passion through many interdisciplinary pathways. You can choose from thematic concentrations or you can Design Your Own major, based on your academic interests and career goals. 

Our Political Science B.A. program develops an understanding of politics and government and of the role of individuals and groups within the political and governmental systems. We prepare students for graduate education in a variety of social science fields and/or for entrance into careers in the public service systems at the international, federal, state, or local levels.

The Creative Writing B.A. concentration introduces students to a rigorous exploration of our common literary and linguistic heritage.  Students practice their craft in small workshops in which they develop their own voices as writers.  The program produces effective communicators, people whose skills are applicable to a wide range of careers, including writing, publishing, editing, media relations, and marketing.

The concentration in Film, Media, and Culture helps students achieve success in a changing world of expression. The concentration builds on the study of film history and theory to engage students in the analysis of many different types of media, including graphic and digital texts. Classes focus on a cultural approach that examines how media shapes our ideas about the world around us.

Our B.A. in history provides students with unique, engaging opportunities to explore history through small classes covering a wider range of topics and themes. Our program teaches students to think critically in analyzing historical issues, encourages them to write clearly and cogently on historical topics, while conducting historical research, and provides students with a basic understanding of history as a discipline.

The Literature concentration cultivates in students skills of literary appreciation and critical inquiry. Literature majors hone their abilities in reading, analysis, and argumentation in small discussion-based classes. Graduates have gone on to post-baccalaureate study in many areas, including law and education, while others have found rewarding positions that value their expertise in critical thinking and research.

The Philosophy B.A. program emphasizes issues that are relevant to students' lives such as how to live, the nature of justice, the role of reason and emotion in a good life, and the meaning and role of art in our lives while simultaneously preparing students for graduate school, law school, nonprofit organizations, and private industry.

Our faculty strives to foster collaborative learning and encourage development in both art theory and artistic practice. With four different concentrations, our students prepare for further study at the graduate level, and the demands of a workforce requiring exceptional, creative problem-solving skills. Our Visiting Artist series, as well as the regular exhibitions of renowned artists in our various galleries, expose students to current trends in regional, national, and international art.
