Digital journalism graduates are working for leading news outlets, including The New York Times, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Fresno Bee, along with TV stations running their online operations. Alumni have also embarked on literary careers and include award-winning non-fiction authors. The Collegian, Fresno State’s award-winning student-run news organization, serves as a key laboratory classroom and allows students to get hands-on experience covering local news.

The B.A. in Latin American Studies is an interdisciplinary degree designed to give students an understanding of the region from diverse disciplines and perspectives. Students are strongly encouraged to spend a semester abroad studying in Latin America, Spain, or Portugal. Majors should also develop proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese by graduation. High school students preparing to enter the program should not have less than three years of study in either Spanish or Portuguese.

Bible Colleges such as California Christian College exist for the primary purpose of preparing individuals for ministry in Church-based vocations such as pastors, evangelists, missionaries, Christian education directors, youth ministers, and similar church-related functions. The division of Christian ministries strives to provide students the foundation they need to serve in these capacities. Students who complete the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry will be prepared either to enter directly into the ministry of their calling or to continue their education in graduate school.

The BA in Social Science provides students with an understanding of major theoretical perspectives in the social sciences with a focus on how the social environment, culture, inequalities, and policies shape individual experiences; knowledge about how to utilize social science concepts in the analysis of social phenomena; opportunities to develop critical thinking, written, and oral communication skills rooted in social science perspectives; an appreciation of socio-cultural diversity within and among societies; and applied quantitative and qualitative research skills.

Audiology, speech-language pathology, deaf education, and interpreting are concerned with many issues related to speech, hearing, and language. Professionals in deaf education and interpreting fields are devoted to providing educational services and community-related services to children and adults who communicate in American Sign Language and/or other communication modalities.

The Fashion Merchandising program focuses on preparing students for a wide variety of careers related to marketing, management, buying, and selling fashion goods. It combines product and industry knowledge with business, communication, and computer skills.

The B.A. in Interior Design allows students many unique opportunities in the field of design. Students use advanced computer software and technologies as well as traditional methods in developing sophisticated design solutions for a variety of interior design projects. Interior design students gain an excellent foundation in subjects such as color theory, space planning, presentation techniques, rendering, construction documents, building systems and codes, and material specification. The program places an emphasis on design for diversity, social consciousness, and special populations. Internships are included in the educational process.
