The Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Health program is designed to help students learn and understand what constitutes psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being for individuals. Specialize by selecting one of two emphases of counseling and coaching. All students will learn to consistently practice the integration of psychology and Christianity. The Bachelor of Arts in Child Development is the newest program in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. The program focuses on the intellectual, social, emotional, and biological development of children and the planning, design, and delivery of child life and child advocacy services. The program includes instruction in healthy child and adolescent development, parent-child relations, family structure, families and trauma, play therapy, environmental influences on child and adolescent development, and additional topics related to child advocacy and the child life profession. Students participate in practicum experiences in settings of their choice that deepen their learning experience and provide valuable networking opportunities.

ACU’s bachelor of arts in Biblical Studies complements the unique liberal arts curriculum (the CORE) by offering a contemporary, academic study of the Bible. The Bible is studied using the literal-grammatical-historical method of interpretation. Courses provide foundational knowledge of the Old and New Testament, which affords a basis on which to construct well-reasoned theological principles and personal applications. In addition, you will develop an understanding of other worldviews, religions, and contemporary issues. All faculty are conservative evangelical Christians but realize that intellectual honesty demands exposing the students to differing points of view in order to prepare them for contemporary life.

ACU’s Communication Major program prepares students for life by training them to be persons of influence, teaching skills for a variety of communication situations and career fields. Key skills taught include writing and speaking, media production, and content creation. The motto for the Communication Major is “Read, Think, Create.” In your studies, you will read diverse ideas about communication from both mainstream and faith-based thinkers. Then, you will think about and reflect upon those ideas. Finally, you will respond to those ideas by creating a variety of projects using your writing, speaking, or content creation skills.
