This BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities (Religious Studies) degree gives you the freedom to combine the study of different subject areas in the arts and humanities. You'll develop a specialism in religious studies, exploring religions as an aspect of human culture, society and politics. You can combine this with a second specialism or choose to develop broader interests in art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language, English literature, history, modern languages, music, and philosophy.

Graduates end up working in education, business, publishing, the media, and the pastoral and socio-cultural sector. But you will be even better prepared for the job market with a master's degree. Your bachelor degree will give you access to both the Master of Theology and Religious Studies and the Research Master.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies invite students to engage in questions posed since ancient times by various religions, and of Catholic Christianity in particular, such as the ultimate meaning of human existence in relation to God and the establishment of an ethical society.

Engage with a wide range of traditions and beliefs, covering all periods up to the present day.

Theology courses ask these questions with attention to the universally human and particular focus on the Judeo-Christian tradition. A major in theology prepares students for further work in academe or seminary and can serve to complement another major.

Religion begins with a desire to understand the purpose of existence; theologies argue that certain reasons for existence are unique and true. At Loras, majors in Religious Studies and Theology majors expand their worldviews and reflect on the complexities of religions and spirituality in the modern world.

The biblical studies major combines a broad background in philosophy, Christian theology, and ministry with a solid foundation in the Bible. Graduates are furnished with a biblical basis for Christian ministry and evangelism and are prepared for graduate study in the Bible and Christian theology.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theology will get to study God’s Word that He has revealed to us through the Scriptures and illuminate that Word for others. The theology major or minor gives you a strong understanding of the Christian faith that will support you in your chosen vocation.

Upon graduation with a Theology and Youth Ministry major from Thiel College, a student will demonstrate: familiarity with the biblical writings of the Jewish and Christian traditions and with scholarly approaches to interpreting these and other religious texts; the ability to interpret the nature of religious experience, Christian and otherwise, with a level of sophistication appropriate to an undergraduate scholar of religion; knowledge of the key persons, works, and movements from the history of Christianity; and a mature understanding of the interrelatedness of religion and culture.

The Faculty of Jewish Studies at Bar-Ilan University is the largest and most varied of its kind in the world and includes nine departments in the different specialties within Jewish Studies. All of these are open to students of the Multidisciplinary Department, which breaks down the traditional boundaries between the various disciplines and brings them together in a program that is rich in content and unique in its variety. In this BA (Honours) in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics qualification, you’ll explore human systems of thought and practice, both ‘secular’ and ‘religious’, in ways which allow you to engage with wide-ranging and often controversial issues affecting different cultures and societies across Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe.
