25 Theater Production BA Degree Programs

The Department of Theatre inspires students to expand their vision of the world and themselves, preparing them for leadership as practitioners, educators, and artists. The Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with concentrations in one of the following areas: Performance; Design/Tech; Directing, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Writing; Applied Theatre; and Theatre Education. The B.A. degree allows the flexibility to pursue a double major. A Minor in Theatre and a Certificate in Musical Theatre are also offered.

Performance Design students learn through collaboration with those studying on Central’s design, production and acting courses, gaining a deep insight into other practices. They also work closely with the craftspeople and constructors who will realize their designs, and the stage management and technical production teams who will bring their work to the moment of performance. Skills including model making, technical drawing using AutoCAD and SketchUp, costume drawing and storyboarding using Photoshop, and the use of projected media will be developed, and there will be opportunities to put these skills into practice on realized projects in Central’s professionally equipped performance spaces.

BA (Hons) Stage & Production Management has been designed to give you an edge to succeed in a busy marketplace and is the first of its kind to be dedicated to the stage and production management of large-scale shows, concert tours, cruise ships, outdoor events, conferences, award ceremonies and festivals.

The BA (Hons) Theatre Industry Practice is a hands-on, skills-led course designed for aspiring performers, producers, and technical theatre professionals. Created in response to industry demand, this program immerses students in a range of disciplines, from acting and directing to stage management, lighting, and set design. With expert-led training, live theatre productions, and specialized placements, students gain real-world experience to launch successful careers in the dynamic performing arts industry.
