The Loras College Data Science major is an interdisciplinary field of study, drawing primarily from mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The major in Data Science combines coursework from these areas with a separate disciplinary focus so that an undergraduate majoring in Data Science may have ample opportunity to apply analytical techniques to problems of interest in fields as varied as Accounting, Catholic Studies, and Sport Management.

Launching Fall 2020, International Direct provides support and services for degree-seeking international students in the first term of their undergraduate degree. From receiving pre-departure information to a welcoming airport pickup in the US and a ready-made room on campus, students will have the full first-year experience of their academic major in the college where they are studying. International Direct offers students a safe place to land in the US, ensuring success as they adjust to university life abroad.

Computer science is the study of problem-solving. Therefore, the primary goal of the program is to develop problem-solving skills in students. With that in mind, the emphasis of this major is to prepare graduates to understand the field of computing, both as an academic discipline and as a profession, within the context of a larger society. A mixture of computer science and psychology the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) program grows students to fit into a developing market. Students who complete the degree would be qualified to be user interface (UI) engineers, user experience (UX) designers, and web designers.
