The aim of the English and American Studies BA is to train experts who have a proficient command of the English language and have profound knowledge regarding English-speaking cultures.

BA in Social Work graduates is aware of the complexity and dynamics of social systems and human behavior. They are committed to the values and ethics of Social Work and act according to the principles of social justice. Social workers promote the development of democratic social relations and social integration.

The BA in International Relations is an interdisciplinary course addressing key global challenges, issues, and approaches to politics. The goal of the program is to train highly qualified experts with a broad education in the social sciences. We have a wide range of courses focusing on global issues, dealing with developing countries and the growing Asian states, while we can offer a deep insight into European and Central Eastern European issues. The three-year undergraduate course will provide you with the theoretical and practical context of international relations offering intellectual preparation for a wide range of career choices.

The goal of this programme is to offer students the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge in international politics, security studies, EU politics, ethnic conflict, global justice and human rights. It enables them to understand and analyse complex political and social dynamics that go beyond state borders and cultural boundaries.

The goal of this programme is to train professional sociologists at the bachelor level. Successful graduates of the programme should have a solid grasp of the concepts and principles of sociology and have mastered (at the appropriate level) its methods, and they should be able to identify and interpret social problems meaningfully.

BA in English and American Studies aims to develop high-level competence in English, an understanding of the structure and communicative requirements of English, knowledge about the literature and culture of English-speaking countries, as well as an openness and ability to cope with linguistic variety that characterises English as a Lingua Franca in global communication.

Our Bachelor's degree in International Relations offers students the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge in international politics, security studies, EU politics, ethnic conflict, global justice, and human rights. It enables them to understand and analyze complex political and social dynamics that go beyond state borders and cultural boundaries. The structure of the program offers the opportunity for students – following introductory courses in the first year – to choose from a wide range of elective seminars.

By obtaining their BA in English and American Studies, students will possess a wide range of skills and knowledge a thorough understanding of the English language and of English-speaking peoples and cultures worldwide, a high level of competence in the English language meeting the competency requirements of both the Written and Oral parts of the Advanced Level State Proficiency Examination, familiarity with basic research- and study techniques within the field of English Studies, the ability to translate a variety of non-field-specific texts in an intelligent manner.

The program in English and American Studies was founded at our university in 1993.

The program is offered by the School of English and American Studies. The program can be completed either as a major or a minor program; the latter is only available for students who study in other major programs at ELTE. Students taking the program as a major opt for either the English or the American track at the end of the first term.
