The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies is a multi-disciplinary program that prepares students to be leaders in an increasingly interdependent global community. This multi-disciplinary major teaches us to critically examine world affairs and pursue advanced degrees and/or careers in international law, diplomacy, politics, and business.

Our Bachelor’s International Social Work (ISW) program offers students the expertise to become social workers without borders. Placing emphasis on our global interconnectedness, students get a chance to explore local social problems from global perspectives, while also appreciating their local context. Our students learn to connect and empower individuals, groups and communities. We address current social issues, such as migration and refugees, sustainability, child protection, human rights and social development.

This is one of several specialist routes available in our BA (Honours) in Social Sciences (Politics) degree. You'll study core modules in interdisciplinary social science and sociology, giving you a firm grounding in ideas central to the social sciences. This will be combined with exploring the fundamentals of political theory and examining the debates and conflicts inherent in a modern democracy.

The curriculum of the BA in Political Science has traditional strengths in the behavioral and historical study of American, European, and international institutional politics, as well as global public policy, human rights, peace and conflict studies, and global political theory.

With the global demand for development specialists, the International Politics and Development Studies program, being one of the rare BA level programs of its kind in Europe (and practically sole in Eastern Europe) is unique in that it, in addition to providing classical Political Science education, lays fundamentals of development and international relations theories and practice, all this with a focus on one of the developing regions.

All courses within the program of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (SPE) are fully taught and examined in English.

The Schiller program in International Relations and Diplomacy prepares student to pursue careers in government, international organizations, law, business, journalism, or for graduate study in political science and related areas.

BA in Politics The academic study of politics is concerned with the sources of conflict, cooperation, power, and decision-making within and between societies, how differences are expressed through ideology and organization, and how, if at all, disagreements and problems are resolved. You will develop an in-depth understanding of politics, political theory, how states are governed, and the place of citizens in politics.

Gain the modern tools economists use to analyse real economic problems, and the tools used in politics to understand how ideas and political systems shape what citizens, businesses, and governments do. This degree in BA (Hons) Economics and Politics gives you analytical, data, and communication skills, and a unique perspective on the way the world works.  

The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) department at AUB-M teaches and researches from a multidisciplinary perspective the social, economic, and political issues and challenges facing our world in general and the eastern Mediterranean in particular. Research wise, the department is focused on supporting and promoting multidisciplinary projects, themes, and initiatives that combine the three disciplines. Educationally, the PPE department offers a PPE degree that combines the rigorous tools and theories of political science and economics with normative philosophical analysis, to foster broader vision and critical understanding of our institutions, practices, and policies at local, regional, and international levels. The department provides foundational courses in each of the three disciplines as well as a unique set of gateway, bridging, and capstone courses designed for the PPE degree. After graduating, the PPE degree opens pathways for its alumni in graduate studies in various disciplines (development studies, economics, political science, international affairs, and moral/political philosophy). It also trains, equips, and prepares its alumni for careers in public service, political science, international organizations, and business. This wide-ranging BA (Honours) in History and Politics course will develop and deepen your knowledge of different periods of history while providing a critical understanding of political ideas, institutions, issues and theories. You’ll tackle challenging issues such as power and warfare, security and insecurity, global justice, culture and beliefs, health and medicine, imperialism and resistance, and class and gender.

BA in International Relations and Politics. The Joint Honours Programme in International Relations and Politics will provide you with an in-depth, interdisciplinary understanding of contemporary politics, international affairs, and conflict situations in their political, historical, cultural, economic, and legal dimensions. Dedicated modules will introduce you to core concepts and debates in International Relations and the study of conflict, as well as to the particular European experience of regional integration.
