Photography is pivotal to fine art, fashion, advertising and editorial photography, as well as digital applications. This course is centred on the making and understanding of photographic production and critical thinking, applied to any subject area.

The studio art track, photography, and media concentration, are designed to prepare students for careers in photography or media arts. It may also serve as a foundation for graduate study in fine arts.

BSBI, in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), offers the BA (Hons) Photography programme, introducing students to the fundamentals of the creative industry with a specific focus on photography. Our one year intensive Honours degree offers you the opportunity to produce a self-directed body of creative practice work majoring in Photography, Illustration, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or Art Direction. The Photography course is provided in the framework of the Visual Arts School and offers, along with a specific study plan and liberal arts, several crossover courses to enable students to acquire multidisciplinary skills and strategies. Through lessons and workshops supplied by major photographers and curators on the national and international scene, students experience the various fields of photography: commercial, editorial, documentary, and artistic, to learn to translate abstract concepts and photographic ideas into observable representations.

If you have a creative eye for detail, our Filmmaking & Photography program will provide a focus for you to explore interests in both still and motion photo imagery. Covering both historical and contemporary photographic and filmmaking methods, the program provides a springboard for you to produce creative and innovative visuals.

Anyone can press the button on a camera. Our BA (Hons) Photography course will encourage you to critically consider every aspect of this art form, from the composition, to the audience and post-production. You’ll learn about the world of visual language and image making, from art direction to curating, and learn to use a wide range of traditional and digital formats and equipment.

On our BA (Hons) Photography course will develop a creative, professional identity and signature style by combining technique, theory and ethical practice with experimentation.
