This BA (Honours) in Social Sciences (Geography) is one of several specialist routes available in our BA (Honours) Social Sciences (R23) degree. Half of your studies will be in interdisciplinary social science and sociology, giving you a firm grounding in the knowledge and ideas that are central to the social sciences. For the other half, you’ll learn how key geographical concepts can be applied to some of the most pressing challenges of the twenty-first century, including globalisation, development, climate change, migration and urbanisation.

he BA degree in Biology is offered as a joint program between Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) through their Federated Department of Biological Sciences. The BA major requires 38 credits of coursework in biological sciences, plus cognate courses in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Courses are offered on both the Rutgers and NJIT campuses. Rutgers students can officially declare their intention to pursue a course of study leading to a BA degree in Biology after completing 8 credits: 120:200 Concepts in Biology and one of the two Foundations course pairs: 120:201 and 120:202 Foundations of Biology: Cell and Molecular Biology lecture and laboratory or 120:205 and 120:206 Foundations of Biology: Ecology and Evolution lecture and laboratory.

The program explores the history, contributions, and problems of working people and their institutions in contemporary society, as well as the theory and practice of various management methods and models, from scientific management to modern human resource management.

The Applied Mathematics Major is open to NCAS students, and to all non-UCN students as a second Major. Students may not double major in both Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. A total of 59 credits is required for the Applied Mathematics Major.

The goals of the Gao research group are to understand the processes affecting the global atmospheric composition and its impact on climate change, biogeochemical cycles, and the quality of the human environment. Their research has spanned many regions, from the Asian coast to the US East Coast, and from the Arctic to the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. They conduct field measurements, laboratory experiments, and numerical modeling to characterize the properties of atmospheric substances, particularly atmospheric aerosols, toward a better understanding of the land-atmosphere-ocean-ice interactions. Current research in the Gao lab focuses on the near and far, from characterizing urban air particles and potential impact on human health around the metropolitan area (New York City and Newark in New Jersey) to studying the atmospheric dust particles and aeolian iron deposition to the Arctic Ocean, Southern Ocean, and Antarctica.

This major requires 13 courses. The bioethics major leads to a bachelor of arts degree and satisfies the humanities requirement of the Rochester Curriculum.
