The Mason School of Music is part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Students study with nationally and internationally recognized faculty who are active performers, conductors, composers, music theoreticians, historians, and music teachers. Admission is based on acceptance to the university and audition. The music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

We have been running educational projects since 1996 in the field of electroacoustic music, video art and design, presenting a special role in the faculty, where both of the fine arts and classical music students cooperate in the projects. With the BA in Electronic Music and Media Arts, we cover the gap in the study of electronic music and in a wider perspective, specialize in the arts of new media.

This BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities (Music) degree gives you the freedom to combine the study of different subject areas in the arts and humanities. Our BA (Hons) Music Production course gives you the chance to create music and sound in a variety of contexts. As well as addressing the ‘how?’ of music and sound production, the course also tackles the ‘why?’; providing students with a deeper understanding of philosophies, workflows, and future-proof technical approaches to music and sound production.

The bachelor programme in Music production is unique in the region. It aims at giving all necessary creative training to contemporary music producers, including everything they need in their successful professional career. Everything you learn is designed to help starting and managing a successful music career. You will create real life projects accommodated and fitted to the on-going possibilities at the university (performing at live events, media compositions, music concerts) and built around student’s needs.

With our BA (Honours) in Music degree, you'll learn how music is created, study a wide range of styles, and unlock your creativity. This degree will broaden and deepen your understanding of musical practices, encompassing Western art music, jazz, popular music, and non-Western music. 

Aim of the program in BA in Orchestral and Choral Conducting: To educate musicians who - with their performing skills, theoretical knowledge, and highly developed musical abilities - enrich and spread the Hungarian and  European music culture. They can enrich the repertoire of musical knowledge with their sophisticated musical taste and are able to work in musical institutions, professional performing ensembles and in other occupations which require music education.

The Bachelor of Arts in music, offering a general background in music theory, literature, history, and performance, is for students majoring in music as part of a liberal arts program. NSU is a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Here, you'll get individual attention from our renowned music faculty members who will help you develop your fullest potential. Performance and ensemble opportunities at NSU are numerous. Performance groups include the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony, Symphonic Band, University/Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and opera scenes. Here, you’ll also find opportunities to participate in NSU’s woodwind, brass, percussion, and chamber music ensembles. Music majors are required to perform a senior recital and complete the MFAT exam.

LCCM’s new BA (Hons) Commercial Music provides a comprehensive award for modern music makers with pathways suited to solo vocalists and rappers, DIY producers, ambitious DIY artists and creative executives. The new degree combines the best knowledge and expertise from LCCM’s long-running music performance & production degree but with less emphasis on music theory and traditional instrumentation.

The content of the Performing Arts programme adequately corresponds to the most recent advances in science, art, and technology. Students are acquainted with the theory and practice of creative activities, improvisation, artistic project management, art marketing, and research methodology. Students are free to choose composers from various eras (including the latest) and nationalities for their final examinations and the final project. Graduate students are encouraged to pursue the most modern forms of performance, which helps them integrate into and position themselves within the context of the contemporary art scene.

Pursue your passion for music while exploring diverse courses. If you are interested in music and another subject area, a BA (Music) allows you to explore your interests in the sciences, social sciences and humanities, while still focusing on music. Through our classical music programs, you can choose a performance route and receive one-on-one instruction from master performer-teachers. Entrance to studio courses is dependent on a successful audition.
