The overall aim of our BA Media, Journalism and Culture course is to equip you to become a well-informed citizen in a media-saturated society. Our courses study the many facets of journalism, media, culture and communications, and consider in an era of globalisation and dynamic social change their impact on society, politics and popular culture.

Our Creative Writing and Journalism programme offers the unique experience of combining both subjects to enable you to fully explore and develop your skills across different styles of writing such as fiction, screenwriting, short story, long-form journalism and multimodal journalism.

BA (Hons) in Journalism and Publishing This is an exciting time to be a journalist. With digital storytelling at the heart of contemporary reporting, stories are now told across a range of platforms and the industry is being transformed to meet the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. We aim to develop a new generation of highly-skilled, pro-active and agile creatives with a nose for a story. You’ll understand the power of image and video content. You’ll develop a range of research approaches to give your work originality and depth.

Learn the core practical skills of journalism and how to apply them to a sports specialism using traditional research and writing approaches as well as new and developing media forms. Sharpen these skills with an in-depth understanding of the wider political, social, historical and economic sporting environment - alongside the legal and ethical frameworks journalists work within - adding depth and authority to your reporting.

While defining the importance of education, Dr. King also could have been writing journalism’s mission statement. Those principles have not changed. However, in the 15 years of Morehouse’s journalism program, the discipline has become a rapidly evolving multimedia environment that has chopped down the past’s print, broadcast, and photographic silos.

BA in Broadcast Production This pathway is for those interested in careers in creative broadcast programme and media making for television, radio, journalism, podcasts and other new and emerging digital media platforms. This degree aims to introduce you to the widest possible experience of modern broadcasting combined with critical thinking and excellent online skills.

The media & journalism major offers and requires a variety of foundational and skills courses to help prepare students to enter the “real world” of media. The blending of media law and media ethics with hands-on skills is inherent in the courses offered in this major. The digital and print media track is designed for students planning to work in digital-only news media, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and news services (such as Associated Press), and their digital media (websites, social media, and mobile media).

Created by practising sports producers and educators, with contributions from broadcasters and sporting champions, our Sports Media Production course equips you with skills in one of the fastest growing sectors of the creative economy. You'll learn powerful and longstanding sports broadcasting techniques as well as more contemporary immersive and interactive formats – such as e-sports, social media and podcasting – that use digital technology creatively.

In our classrooms, computer labs, and broadcast studio, our faculty of award-winning journalists and academics teach students to report, produce and write for all media forms. Classes include database and multi-platform reporting, investigative journalism, and studio production. The curriculum also focuses on the role journalism and media play in civic and political life.
