This innovative interdisciplinary program combines the study of human behavior and environmental science. It emphasizes the pivotal role that economic markets, politics, and human behavior play in creating and solving environmental problems. With an emphasis on social and environmental justice, it looks at the impact of sustainability programs on the global environment and human communities.

BA in Outdoor Education encompasses all things nature, outdoors, and mindfulness, prioritizing the use of non-formal teaching methods, developing the lifelong learner, and providing experiential learning opportunities.

In Quinnipiac BA in Enviromental Studies is Designed to be intentionally integrated and completed alongside any major at Quinnipiac, the BA in Environmental Studies (Co-Major) gives you the experience and expertise to address the effects of climate change, water pollution, waste disposal and other prominent environmental challenges in a range of professional fields.

Our environmental science program guides students to be scholars, researchers, and stewards of the natural environment. Situated in a complex landscape of urban, suburban, agricultural, prairie, wetland, and woodland habitats, North Central students have an opportunity to gain experience with a wide variety of environments and ecological and environmental issues. From understanding public policy behind environmental sustainability, environmental protection laws, and public health, to understanding the chemistry and biological makeup of natural resources. Environmental studies majors will have a curriculum dedicated to building their knowledge of the natural world. They will also be able to choose from three tracks within our curriculum: Sustainable Business, Science and the Environment, and Society and the Environment.

The Program in Environmental Studies, leading to either a BA or a minor, teaches students to develop an interdisciplinary understanding of the relationship between humans and the environment. It requires an understanding of the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The major has 5 elective tracks from which to choose: 1) Climate Change, 2) Conservation Biology, 3) Environmental Economics, 4) Environmental Humanities, or 5) Water Resources. A major could also propose a self-designed track.

Understanding these environmental problems requires an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. We cannot adequately understand an issue like water pollution through a single disciplinary perspective; it involves anthropology, biology, business, chemistry, economics, geosciences, government, history, literature, and sociology. The mission of Environmental Studies and Sciences is to help students develop literacy at the intersection of these disciplines.

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary degree program that focuses on understanding and addressing environmental issues from various perspectives, including scientific, social, political, and economic aspects. This program typically spans four years and is offered by many colleges and universities worldwide.

Environmental studies encompasses a broad range of issues that arise from the interaction of humans with the natural world and built environments. To understand these issues, students must think across and beyond existing disciplinary boundaries. The environmental studies major provides a framework for students to examine how humans experience, investigate, and interact with the world around them.

Our B.A. in Environmental Studies emphasizes the political, economic, and sociological aspects of environmental issues. Environmental studies students need sufficient natural science background to understand the consequences of human impact on the natural world, and sufficient social science background to develop and implement effective policy solutions. This is an integrated studies degree with a strong international dimension, including intermediate competency in foreign language. Because it draws more extensively from economics, sociology, political science, and global languages and cultures, the B.A. degree is more appropriate for students intending graduate study and careers in sustainability, environmental planning, international development, environmental communications, and environmental education.

The Environmental Science and Studies major is a two-track (science and studies) interdisciplinary program rooted in the natural and social sciences and designed to provide students with an understanding and application of the integration of multiple disciplines in solving complex problems arising at the interface of human existence with the rest of the natural world.

The Environmental Program at RMC offers majors in Environmental Science (ESC), Environmental Management and Policy (EMP), and Environmental Studies (EST). Our courses emphasize interdisciplinary studies in the field and laboratory with a broad range of hands-on experiences. Many of our programs include field trips to Yellowstone National Park and the Bighorn and Beartooth Mountain Ranges. Students and faculty also conduct ongoing research projects at sites on the Yellowstone River, which is the longest free-flowing river in the U.S.
