King’s University College is currently the only university in North America to offer the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Thanatology. The Thanatology program offers a wide variety of courses, including an overview of bereavement and grief, ethical issues, palliative care, suicide, children and death, spiritual and philosophical issues, change and transition, popular culture, grief and trauma, and diversity and social justice.

The Raindance Film School’s Top-Up BA (Hons) in Film and Performing Arts Practices is a one-year practical course designed for aspiring and experienced acting or filmmaking practitioners who wish to upgrade their existing level 5 (or equivalent) qualification to a full Bachelor of Arts (Hon’s) degree, validated by De Montfort University.

The Childhood and Youth Studies (CYS) department at King's focuses on the often-overlooked subject of childhood from an interdisciplinary perspective. Thus, we look at childhood from sociological, anthropological, historical, and geographical perspectives. We discuss issues such as child competencies, questions about our understandings of childhood, and an exploration of the changing status of children and childhood in Canada and internationally.

The Political Science and International Relations department explores the big questions about issues of power and authority that go to the heart of how people are governed. Our world is being reshaped in fascinating and critical ways. Security considerations, geopolitics, divisions born of wealth and poverty, and global development challenges have all become unavoidable realities. Our award-winning faculty offer courses across each of the major subfields in political science, including Canadian politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory, public policy, and administration.

Psychologists study the psychological, biological, and social bases of how we think, feel, and behave—and they use this knowledge to solve problems in the real world. As scientists, psychologists conduct research in many settings, including universities, hospitals, government, schools, and corporations, and apply the knowledge gained from research to solve personal, social, and practical problems.

In an ever-shrinking world, we constantly find ourselves surrounded by people of different religions and cultures, many that we don't understand. The World Religions & Cultures program gives students better comprehension of religious diversity in our globalized society—and in our own communities and neighborhoods. We explore the historical development, lived experience and practices, and contemporary situations of major religious traditions: Hinduism, Buddhism and other Eastern traditions, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.

History gives students a fundamental guide to understanding our past, present, and future. The History program at King’s fosters students’ historical knowledge and their ability to apply disciplinary-based approaches to critical analysis.

The Disability Studies department at King's creates the space for rethinking traditional medical approaches to imagining disability, mental health, and related social institutions through a liberal arts lens. In this program, students share cases of successful inclusion and support that broaden the role of disabled people and the upside potential of welcoming this diversity.

The French Language and Literature Program at King’s is designed to foster an appreciation of the various kinds of literature and cultures of la Francophonie as well as to develop a variety of skills that will serve them well in the future. The Raindance International Degree Program in Acting or Filmmaking is a unique course, designed to give our students the opportunity to experience Filmmaking or Acting across 3 continents and achieve a full UK university degree at the end of the third year.
