Grounded in environmental design, the Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Design (BA-ARH-D) degree provides a strong undergraduate education while allowing the student to experience and gain skills in architectural design, art, architectural, and urban history and theory, fundamentals of sustainability, materials, building construction and structures, as well as advanced design representation tools. The undergraduate architecture program was established in 2000 to offer opportunities for undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences to study architecture on various levels of engagement ranging from a Freshman Seminar and a Minor in Architecture to a Major in Architecture with three concentrations (Design, History & Theory, and Intensive Design).

The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at NewSchool is crafted to pave the way for aspiring architects aiming to advance into a first-professional Master of Architecture program. With a total of 183 quarter credits, the program offers a comprehensive blend of required and elective professional credits, ensuring a breadth of knowledge in architectural practices, alongside 60 integrative studies credits to foster a well-rounded education.

Rice Architecture's top-ranked undergraduate program consists of two consecutive degrees: the first four years of study result in a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture; students subsequently receive a Bachelor of Architecture professional degree after an additional two years, one of which includes the renowned Rice Architecture Preceptorship program. Preceptorship places our B.Arch. students in notable offices across the world where they gain a year's worth of mentored experience as paid employees.

In addition to the professional degree in Architecture (M. Arch), the KU Department of Architecture also offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural Studies (B.A. in Arch Studies). The B.A. in Arch Studies degree is offered only to students accepted to the Master of Architecture Track I (5-year) program. The degree is awarded to the architecture students upon completion of the first four years of KU CORE courses and professional courses in the Architecture program.

A pre-professional 4-year undergraduate degree program, the Bachelor of Environmental Design (BEnvD), emphasizes the study of built and natural environments and provides a solid foundation for graduate education and/or careers in the design and building professions, including architecture, landscape architecture, and related disciplines.

The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree is designed to allow career-focused students to enter the workforce as quickly as possible or to continue with their education by earning a Master of Architecture (First-Professional) degree. With a curriculum focused on familiarizing students with innovations, products, and building forms, this bachelor’s degree program gives students a strong foundation of architectural design from a technical and aesthetic perspective and prepares them for their professional future.

The Bachelor of Architecture (First-Professional) degree program is the gateway to becoming a socially conscious designer. From teaching time-honored building traditions to sustainable and innovative technologies, the curriculum of this program gives students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

The BFA Architectural Design (BFA AD) program at Parsons combines comprehensive education in design methodology, coursework to develop creativity, and training in the material, spatial, and making practices of architecture and urban design. As a program housed in a school that offers an accredited MArch degree, BFA AD prepares students for a pathway to licensure in the state of New York. Many students choose to pursue graduate study in architecture, some through Parsons’ 4+2 program, which enables undergraduate students to take graduate courses in their senior year and shortens the typical three-year MArch course of study to two years.
