73 Associate of Science Programs

The Astronomy Associates of Science Degree program is intended to provide a solid background for STEM students to pursue further studies in astronomy and astrophysics. Most of the courses in this program are aligned with the requirements for transfer to baccalaureate institutions and are designed to apply towards higher degrees in the astronomical sciences.

The Associate in Science in Physics for Transfer degree (AS-T in Physics) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree in Physics at a CSU campus. On completion of the program, the student will have gained proficiency in all of the main areas of classical physics and will have been exposed to some of the more modern concepts of physics, including special relativity, atomic and nuclear physics.

The Associate of Science in Biotechnology Manufacturing Technician prepares graduates with the skills and experience to work in the biotechnology industry as a production technician. A production technician operates and maintains equipment used to manufacture protein pharmaceutical products.

An Associate in Science in Biology for Transfer (AS-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Biology, or similar major.

An Associate in Science in Physics for Transfer (AS-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Physics, or similar majors.

An Associate in Science in Geology for Transfer (AS-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Geology, or similar major.

The Associate in Science Degree in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T Business Administration) is designed to provide students with the common core of lower division courses required to transfer and pursue a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration.

The Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing these degrees (AA-T or AS-T) are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major.

The Computer Science Applications and Development program prepares CSM graduates for entry-level programming positions with companies of all sizes. The program emphasis is on cultivating computer professionals who are technically competent and work well with others.

An Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer 2.0 (AS-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Business Administration, or similar major.

Mathematics provides the foundation for studying engineering; the biological, physical and health sciences; economics; business; computer science; statistics; and many other fields. A major in mathematics itself opens up job opportunities in numerous fields, as mathematical problem-solving skills are widely applicable.

The Biology degree in Pre-Nursing prepares students to transfer to a four-year program at a baccalaureate institution. Upon completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduates choose from first-level professional nursing staff positions in specializations which include community health, geriatrics, maternity, mental health, pediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery.

This Associate in Science degree in General Biology is designed to allow students to study a variety of topics in cell and molecular biology, animal and plant diversity. The coursework prepares students to apply the scientific method, critical thinking, and reasoning to analyze real-world situations. Upon completion, students will be ready for transfer to a four-year institution, leading to a degree in biology or disciplines such as microbiology, botany, zoology, and careers in teaching.

Engineering is one of the largest professions in the United States, with over one million jobs in fields ranging from airplane design to pollution control. The three largest branches of engineering are electrical, mechanical, and civil. All branches of engineering place a heavy emphasis on problem-solving and mathematics. Engineering education focuses on teaching scientific and engineering concepts and their application to the creative and effective solution of problems.

The Administration of Justice Program prepares students for jobs in the field of criminal justice. The program at CSM is designed to educate students on the many aspects of justice administration, from the human, social, and moral problems to the larger scope of justice systems.
