The Theater Arts major offers the fundamental study and understanding of the theater. This allows students to develop their practical skills and talents as well as their intellectual ability to think creatively and critically.

Committed to producing multi-cultural and sustainable theater for emerging theater artists. SUNY Sullivan's Theater Arts program is a two-year theater generalist program that prepares students to transfer to any SUNY four-year college as a junior with training in acting, voice and speech, musical theater, physical theater, design, and stagehand work. One musical, one contemporary, and one classical play are produced each year in the college's Seelig Theater.

The Associate of Arts in Theatre Arts: General offers a variety of programs of study and experiences suited to the needs of serious theatre students as well as those who wish to include theater as a part of their liberal arts education. With curricula in Acting, Design/Lighting, Costuming, and Technical Production, the program provides an intensive two-year course of study that prepares Theatre Arts majors for transfer to a four-year college or university - ready to do advanced upper-division work or to enter one of the many related professions. Students have the opportunity of working in all phases of production and performance and are encouraged to take on increasing levels of responsibility in the role of stage manager. director or other leadership positions.

The Theatre Arts Associate in Arts Degree will prepare graduates for entry-level employment in various aspects of theatre production, such as stage and production management, stagecraft (i.e., technical aspects of theatre such as lighting, sound, set, costume), as well as performance.

The degree program allows for a course of study that expands and increases creativity. It is a meaningful journey of personal discovery and self-expansion. It connects the study of script analysis to creating complex characters or theatrical designs.

The Department of Theatre and Film at American River College offers a wide range of classes in all theatre areas, along with an expanding Film Studies program. We also maintain a busy production schedule in various performance spaces in our recently modernized and expanded facility.

Theatre at Northeast Community College is an exciting participation activity. In addition to theatre classes, through a cooperative agreement with the Norfolk Community Theater and the production of an all-college play, students participate in a wide variety of experiences in theater production.

Theatre is an ancient art form that seeks to understand the human condition and reveal it to the audience. Students interested in theatre train in a foundation in acting, stage and vocal techniques, theatre history, literature, "hands-on experience" in several theatre arts disciplines, and the cultural and historical background necessary to understand Theatre Arts.

The curriculum is designed to parallel the courses and experiences found in the first two years of a B.A. Theatre degree while providing the students with opportunities to explore the various concentrations available in theatre arts. Northampton graduates have transferred to a wide range of four-year institutions, including Temple University, DeSales University, Cedar Crest College, Albright College, Brooklyn College, University of Iowa, the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the University of Connecticut.
