4 Physics Associate of Arts Programs

An emphasis on Natural Sciences provides the student with an understanding of living and non-living systems and promotes an appreciation of the methodologies and tools of science. Students may select courses that focus on a specific major and then select complementary courses to strengthen their selected focus or they may select courses that strengthen and broaden their overall understanding of the Natural Sciences.

The Associate in Arts Degree in Physics prepares students for further study in physics or related physical science disciplines. It also provides a background in physics that includes skills appropriate for entry-level employment in science-related industries or laboratories.

The associate degree program in physics prepares students to begin upper-division work leading to a baccalaureate degree in physics or engineering physics. It also provides some of the support courses required for the baccalaureate degree.

Physics is the foundation discipline that must be incorporated into the education of anyone preparing for a career in engineering, or science. It is equally true for the non-scientist having the responsibility to make meaningful decisions in society — the citizen in politics, the business person, or the social scientist who deals with problems of a society strongly linked to technology based on the application of physical principles. A truly educated person preparing for life in the 21st century can hardly afford not to be aware of the statements of contemporary physics.
