Dance is a vigorous and specialized area in the performing arts, and is unique in its ability to convey emotional and cultural values. Dance is physically demanding and requires a thorough understanding of aesthetic values. This program is primarily designed for the student who intends to transfer to University of California at Santa Barbara, or to other universities that offer baccalaureate preparation in Dance. Additionally, the program provides an excellent foundation in dance for students interested in other performing arts fields or entry level into the workforce, such as study owner/employee.

The Department of Dance offers an Associate Arts Degree in Dance that provides an extensive curriculum in dance theory and hands-on technical and experiential practice in the context of a broader education within the Liberal Arts. Our dance courses meet CSU/UC transfer requirements.

Considering a music transfer degree as an option? TCC offers an Associate of Arts (DTA) degree with a Music Specialization. The following course set fulfills the requirement of the Specialization in Music for the Associate of Arts Degree and provides a clear, music-focused pathway for students to chain music courses together in a meaningful and transfer-relevant way. This specialization prepares students to transfer as Bachelor of Arts in Music majors, or Bachelor of Arts majors. With curricula in Acting, Design/Lighting, Costuming, and Technical Production, the program provides an intensive two-year course of study that prepares Theatre Arts majors for transfer to a four-year college or university ready to do advanced upper-division work. Students have the opportunity of working in all phases of production and performance and are encouraged to take on increasing levels of responsibility as stage managers or directors.

The Associate of Arts in Theatre Arts: General offers a variety of programs of study and experiences suited to the needs of serious theatre students as well as those who wish to include theater as a part of their liberal arts education. With curricula in Acting, Design/Lighting, Costuming, and Technical Production, the program provides an intensive two-year course of study that prepares Theatre Arts majors for transfer to a four-year college or university - ready to do advanced upper-division work or to enter one of the many related professions. Students have the opportunity of working in all phases of production and performance and are encouraged to take on increasing levels of responsibility in the role of stage manager. director or other leadership positions.

The Associate in Arts in Dance is designed to prepare students to demonstrate competence and discipline in the study of dance technique, performance, and choreography and to demonstrate proficiency in group choreography and solo dance skills. Trevecca’s two-year Associate of Arts in worship studies provides a foundation in musicianship and worship, helping students become well-versed in music theory, performance, biblical and historical worship, worship leading principles, private applied lessons, music technology, and audio basics.

Trevecca’s Associate of Arts in songwriting is a two-year program that allows you to turn your passion for songwriting into a degree. You’ll take part in foundational classes like Music Fundamentals, Basic Concepts of Audio Technology, Guitar for the Songwriter, and Introduction to Songwriting, as well as have opportunities for advanced songwriting lessons and private guitar and piano lessons.

Trevecca’s Associate of Arts in recording technology is a two-year program that teaches you the art of recording and audio production. You will be prepared for roles in concert sound, film scores, and video and computer game sound design or for audio production for various types of music. The Music Department offers a comprehensive program designed to provide a wide variety of musical experiences for both the general college student and the student seeking a career as a professional musician. The Associate in Arts Degree is conferred upon completion of the two-year program of study as a Music major and completion of the state and local requirements outlined later in this section. Courses are structured to offer an articulated transfer program for the major and a core of courses is offered to satisfy and nourish the reentry and continuing non-major student seeking an expressive and enjoyable musical experience.

The Associate in Arts in Music for Transfer degree (AA-T in Music) provides students with the foundational knowledge to make a successful transition into a Baccalaureate degree in Music at any of the CSU campuses. Students develop musical proficiency in theory, musicianship, and performance on their primary instrument or voice.

The Theater Arts major offers the fundamental study and understanding of the theater. This allows students to develop their practical skills and talents as well as their intellectual ability to think creatively and critically.
