27 Graphic, UX and Digital Design Associate of Arts Programs

The Associate of Arts Degree in Pattern Design program prepares students to use detailed body measurements to draft master flat patterns in today’s production operations. Techniques to be used in the program include French couture tailoring and French couture draping.

The Graphic Design associate's degree prepares students for entry-level work in the visual media industry; the degree also serves the needs of students planning to transfer to study Graphic Design at a four-year school.

Berkeley City College’s Multimedia Arts Program in Mobile and Web Design A.A. Degree prepares people for entry-level jobs in the mobile and web design fields and provides upgraded skills for those already employed in multimedia, mobile, and web-related careers. The program is interdisciplinary and focuses on developing critical thinking, and artistic and technical skills.

This program prepares students for careers in engineering and architectural drafting disciplines. Courses incorporate analysis of industry-standard manufacturing prints and realistic 3D modeling. Students will apply 2D and 3D CAD software to design projects, 3D-printed prototypes, and create a professional portfolio.

The Graphic Design & Photography Department offers a two-year Associate in Arts Degree. The Associate in Arts Degree prepares a student for transfer to four-year institutions such as Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; California State University, Long Beach; California State University, San José; California State University, Los Angeles, CalArts, CCA, or OTIS. It also provides career technical training and education in creative problem-solving that can be used to qualify for jobs in the Graphic Design field after completion.

The Associate of Fine Arts in Graphic and Interactive Design prepares students who intend to transfer to Bachelor of Fine Arts programs at four-year institutions and professional schools of art. In this program, students pursue rigorous training and art education in two-dimensional graphics, new media, and motion graphic arts. The College has well-equipped studios and computer systems to support this major.

The Graphic and Interactive Design program emphasizes the elements and principles of design in combination with the use of computers, software and other design peripherals to produce graphic design projects. Focus is placed on the creative integration and selection of type styles and images as they relate to the printed page, film/video output, web-based design, user interface design and multimedia applications. The Graphic and Interactive Design program is designed to prepare students for the workforce.

This pathway is designed to meet Associate in Arts degree requirements with a concentration in Digital Arts/Photography. Students who are artistic, good with technology, and are creative thinkers would be ideally suited for this pathway. In this pathway, you’ll learn the creative, technical and problem-solving skills to design visual graphics for print, web, video, social media, and more.

The Associate of Fine Art degree program in graphic design teaches students how to develop design concepts and aesthetically arrange type and image in order to plan and produce intelligent visual communication solutions to client problems or self-authored work.

The Graphic Design area of study prepares students interested in the concept, design, technologies, and practical aspects of visual communications creation and production. Industry professionals pursue graphic design careers in the related fields of advertising, communication, marketing, education, multimedia, and publishing.

The Graphic and Web Design Program at GCC is designed for working professionals who need to upgrade their skill set, students preparing for transfer, and individuals seeking training towards a career in Graphic Design.

The Arts and Humanities/Visual Arts concentration prepare students for transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue various visual arts majors (painting, sculpture, graphic design, textile design, and visual technology, e.g., Photography).

This degree offers three areas of concentration: web design; multimedia design and application design. The program offers students a robust curriculum in digital media and design with state‐of‐the‐art software and hardware.

Graphic Design Program offers education in graphic design communications, using processes and technologies relevant to the professional design environment.

Richmond Community College offers four associate degree programs designed to allow a seamless transition to four-year institutions: Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Engineering (AE), and the Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts (AFAVA). These programs are designed to offer students the freshman and sophomore years of a baccalaureate-track program. The Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts program is designed to prepare students to transfer to one of the UNC Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts programs. The Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts degree shall be granted for a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of college transfer courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. More specifically, students foster a great understanding of social and personal responsibility, communication, critical thinking, and technical literacy.
