19 Sport and Exercise Associate of Applied Science Programs

The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Professional Golf and Golf Complexes Management (PGGCM) is a set of coherent academic courses that provide the educational and practical foundation for individuals interested in the golf profession — who want to become competent golfers, professional golfers and/or managers of golf complexes and country clubs.

This program prepares individuals to apply business, coaching, and physical education principles to the organization, administration, and management of athletic programs and teams, fitness/rehabilitation facilities and health clubs, sports recreation services, and athletic training programs. This includes instruction in program planning and development; business and financial management principles; sales, marketing, and recruitment; event promotion, scheduling and management; facilities management; public relations; legal aspects of sports; and applicable health and safety standards.

The associate degree in Movement Science provides students with a solid foundation to begin a career in the fitness field. It offers a combination of theory and applied classes, combined with an internship in the fitness field. Students completing this program will be well-positioned to transfer to a four-year institution in fields such as exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, and sports management, among others. Students also will be well prepared to take national certification exams for personal fitness trainers and group exercise instructors.

Trevecca’s Associate of Science in exercise/personal training equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the certified personal trainer exam and to help clients manage their fitness and overall health. This two-year degree gives you a solid foundation upon which you can build your career or continue your education.

This program is designed to provide you with a strong basic foundation in the area of exercise science as well as a broad background in general education. If interested in seeking an entry-level position in health and fitness, the Exercise Science program will prepare you for necessary industry certifications and the knowledge and motivation to continue as a life-long learner in health and fitness. If interested in furthering your education by transferring to a four-year institution, the program will prepare you to transfer to exercise science or other health-related programs.
