7 Real Estate and Property Development Associate of Applied Science Programs

This program prepares individuals to develop, buy, sell, appraise, and manage real property. This includes instruction in land use development policy, real estate law, real estate marketing procedures, agency management, brokerage, property inspection and appraisal, real estate investing, leased and rental properties, commercial real estate, and property management.

The paralegal program is intended to prepare students for employment as paralegals in both the private and public sectors following graduation. The American Bar Association (ABA) By-Laws Section 21.12 uses the terms paralegal and legal assistant interchangeably referring to persons who, although not members of the legal profession, are qualified through education, training, or work experience and are employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, governmental agency, or other entity in a capacity or function which involves the performance, under the direction and supervision of an attorney, of specifically delegated substantive legal work.

The Real Estate Property Management AAS program prepares students for a career in either residential or commercial property management. It is a multi-disciplinary curriculum, combining business, accounting, and real estate courses which prepares students for a successful career in property management by providing requisite skills in finance, marketing, law, communication, and human resources. In addition, students may participate in a property management internship to combine their knowledge with on-the-job experience.

This program offers courses needed to qualify for the state of California salesperson license examination and the broker’s examination. A full range of real estate courses is provided, including real estate finance, appraisals, etc. Qualified real estate professionals teach the classes.

The Real Estate program offers various courses that provide students with the technical and practical knowledge needed to succeed in the Real Estate industry. This includes courses that meet the State’s educational requirements for the broker’s examination and electives for the salesperson’s license.

Real Estate Broker License Preparation (AS | CA): To obtain a real estate broker license, you must first qualify for and pass a written Bureau of Real Estate examination. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: • Age: You must be 18 years of age or older to be issued a license. • Residence: Proof of Legal Presence in the United States is required. Conviction of a crime may result in the denial of a license. • Experience: A minimum of two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within the last five years or the equivalent is required. Members of the California State Bar are statutorily exempt from the college-level course requirements but still need to demonstrate they have satisfied the two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within the last five years requirement or have at least two years of real estate related experience within the last five years while practicing law in California. Copies of official transcripts are generally acceptable evidence of completed courses. Applicants who have completed the eight college-level courses statutorily required for the broker examination and license are eligible to take the salesperson examination without providing further evidence of education or experience.
