This program focuses on the principles and techniques of communicating information, ideas and emotion through digital and film photography. The goal is to prepare individuals for careers in photographic and hotographyrelated fields. This includes instruction in: camera operation and maintenance, use and maintenance of all photographically-related equipment, selection of camera equipment, digital and film media, printing media, film developing, light and composition, color and special effects, photography as art, the history of photography, and the use of computer applications to refine and organize photographic images.

Our photography program is an intensive two-year study of visual communications. You’ll learn the fundamentals of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling; practice your artistic and technical skills in studios and technology labs; and explore current trends and career opportunities in photography and digital media production.

The Photographic Technology, AS program offers the technical instruction and theoretical knowledge in photography to assist graduates in successfully entering the commercial, editorial, advertising, fine arts, and photo technology fields. Coursework covers digital photography and videography as well as the medium’s history and aesthetics to prepare photographers as visual communicators.

The Photography program prepares students for employment as studio photographers, photographer assistants, lab/print specialists, freelance photographers, studio managers, and small business owners. Courses cover the fundamentals of photography through studio photography; historical processes through digital photography; the development of a photography portfolio; and the business of photography.

The Photography associate degree program prepares students for employment in the diverse and growing field of photography. The Photography associate degree program provides learning opportunities that introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement.

This curriculum provides an in-depth study of professional photographic practices through a two-year sequence in digital photography. Throughout the program, the emphasis is placed on individual creative growth through a combination of general education, visual art, and career preparation.

The Photography Degree Program is designed to prepare students for employment as commercial and portrait photographers. Students gain basic and advanced knowledge in digital photography, commercial photography, portrait photography, architectural photography, photojournalism, and advanced editing processes.

The Integrated Media: Photography program balances personal artistic development with an intensive focus on technical skills and building commercially-viable sensibilities. Students explore contemporary photographic applications of digital technology: composition, portraiture, digital workflow and media management, studio and location lighting, DSLR video applications, and freelance business practices.

This program prepares qualified designers, authors, journalists, media-makers, artists, and communicators to manipulate the latest technology and procedures for digital media presentations.

The curriculum is rooted in a strong foundation of basic drawing and design skills, with classroom exercises providing a practical and theoretical experience. Students develop strong skills and technical knowledge using various software programs, and experience with digital cameras, downloading images, scanning, printers, and digital prepress considerations.
