Trevecca’s Associate of Science in film production is a two-year degree that equips you for a variety of jobs in film, television, and media arts. You’ll acquire the skills to write, edit and produce media for the exciting industry of film production, or continue with your education to earn a Bachelor of Science in media arts and studies.

Upon successful completion of Associate in Science in Mt. San Antonio College’s Film, Television, and Electronic Media for Transfer degree requirements, the student will have demonstrated an understanding of coursework and foundational training in all stages of television and film production, including the historical, business and legal underpinnings of the industry; writing for the screen; visual and aural aesthetics; live and pre-recorded television and film production techniques; and post-production aesthetics and techniques.

Our program will help you develop professional practice skills, grow in your understanding and appreciation of dance as an art form, and pursue dance as a possible career choice. This includes practical, hands-on instruction in how to plan and produce a variety of genres in film, television, and video; crew responsibilities and production techniques for film, television, video, and audio; equipment operation, including film and video cameras, editing equipment, switchers, character generators, lighting instruments, and microphones; techniques for making specific types of film, television and video programming; use of digital technology and computer applications to record, edit or enhance images, audio, graphics or effects; and how to manage film and video operations.

The Associate of Science in Music Production Degree Program provides an education track for individuals who would like to expand their passion for music into the production of music for diverse media applications using today’s latest digital technology. The demand for original music content in all media continues to increase as the entertainment industry expands the use of online delivery of content and multi-media programming.

The Film, Television, and Electronic Media major consists of courses appropriate for the Associate in Science in Film, Television, and Electronic Media for Transfer degree, which provides a foundational understanding of the discipline, a breadth of coursework in the discipline, and preparation for transfer to any CSU that accepts the Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC). The Associate in Science in Film, Television, and Electronic Media for Transfer is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree in Film, Television, and Electronic Media (or an approved similar major) at a CSU campus. Students completing this degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Students transferring to a CSU campus that does accept this degree will be required to complete no more than 60 (semester) units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree. This degree may not be the best option for students intending to transfer to a particular CSU campus or to a university or college that is not part of the CSU system. In all cases, students should consult with a counselor for more information on university admission and transfer requirements.

The Recording Technology Associate Degree Program is designed to prepare the student for transfer to institutions offering a bachelor’s degree in Recording Engineering or for apprenticeships at recording studios and various media venues. The program will teach the student the fundamentals and techniques relative to live concert and studio recording.

Graduates of the Graphic Design program get to work when they leave us. We concentrate on skills for immediate entry into the job market. Our curriculum is strong on graphic design fundamentals, yet explores and adapts to emerging communication technologies. We pride ourselves in keeping our curriculum current with changes and developments on an annual basis.

The Theatre program, offered through the Humanities Department, leads to an Associate in Science (AS) degree and provides students with skills and knowledge necessary to begin a career in the theatre Through a series of classes designed to lay the foundation of a concrete approach to working in the theatre, working on a variety fully-produced plays, devised theatre, and theatre for social justice, students gain vital knowledge and insight that prepares them not only to perform in theatre but to engage with the world in which we live. Additionally, through a partnership with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (LPAC), students have the opportunity to observe and work with top theatre and entertainment professionals in the creation of new work.

The associate degree curriculum is designed to help students hone their music skills and develop their business skills to be successful in building and maintaining a self-managed career in the music industry. Courses in music and in general business subjects provide opportunities for students who are considering starting a career in the music business, as well as for students who are already working in the industry but want to improve their chances for success.
