Some of the courses examine particular cultures, such as Francophone, German or Latin American. Humanities courses can be a chance to delve into a topic enjoyably and creatively, as well as provide practice in many of the skills needed for required courses, particularly in critical thinking and academic writing. Some of the Humanities courses fulfill the Cultural Diversity (CD) requirement for the two-year degree.

The Addictive Disorders Counseling Program is designed to prepare students to work in the field of addiction counseling. Both a Certificate of Achievement and an Associate Degree are available. The program provides students with the education and training to develop paraprofessional expertise and qualify for employment as entry-level addiction counselors. A required fieldwork component offers students invaluable hands-on experience working at a facility dedicated to the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction. Licensed clinicians seeking expertise in addictions can complete the new non-fieldwork-based Certificate of Achievement in Post-Professional Practice in Alcohol and Drug Counseling.

The Associate of Applied Science in Christian Ministries is a 63-semester hour program. Students may complete this program at their own rate of progress.

This program is intended to provide quality, basic preparation for local church ministry. The primary purpose for offering this program is to support and enhance the Christian ministries of bi-vocational pastors and volunteer lay workers in the local church. It is intended for Christian adults age 23 and older. The Associate of Science in Ministry is not considered full professional preparation for a full-time ministry. Those who definitely plan to be pastors are advised to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Ministry studies. The Associate of Science in Ministry degree is designed to be earned entirely online.

To meet the need for graduates who are able to function effectively in an interconnected society, the Global Studies program offers a liberal arts education, focused on international relations, area studies, and/or the environment, with a choice of cultural experiences and languages. The program will serve students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution as well as students who wish to work in local businesses with a global reach, or government agencies and non-profit organizations serving diverse populations from other countries.

The Community Interpretation program provides students with a foundation in the skills of Spanish-English translation and interpretation. Students train intensively in the three modes of interpreting: simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation.

The American Indian Studies program responds to the needs of the ʔɔʔɔɔ́ɔ́niiénńɔh and Nakoda Tribes regarding sovereignty, identity, awareness, history, language, philosophy, and issues.

As the world becomes increasingly smaller, knowledge of foreign languages expands in importance. Spanish is a beneficial language in education, health, social services, business, and other fields where contact with the public occurs.

The Interpreter Training AAS Degree Program is offered to students who desire to become qualified sign language interpreters after completing this four-semester program.

The Interpreter Education curriculum prepares individuals to work as entry-level Sign Language Interpreters who will provide communication access in the interview and interactive settings. Besides, this curriculum provides in-service training for working interpreters who want to upgrade their skills.

These programs build skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or prepare students for rewarding careers in interpreting, with an educational philosophy that centers on providing students with the superior language skills and ethical competencies needed by today’s interpreters.
