The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Registered Nurse (RN) program prepares individuals for professional generalist nursing roles and collaboration with other professionals and consumers to deliver holistic health care.

Family Support Studies is a unique program that has received national recognition. Many job fields, such as early childhood education, child welfare, public education, and health care, are using the principles and practices of family support to reach and serve all families. Our program brings individuals from diverse disciplines together to study family support principles and practices to enhance knowledge and skills in working with diverse families — economically, culturally, and linguistically. It's designed for students entering the job market for the first time, as well as for those changing careers or seeking to strengthen their professional skills in work involving families.

The Associate of Science in Nursing Program is designed to prepare graduates to become effective nurse clinicians capable of sound clinical judgment in a variety of healthcare settings. The curriculum enables students to acquire principles and knowledge from natural and behavioral sciences and blend this coursework with the art of nursing.

The Associate of Applied Science in Health Studies is designed to offer students interested in working within the health care field an opportunity to attain the associate degree. Students acquiring this degree would be able to pursue advancement opportunities within varied health care settings. Examples of positions that would be applicable include: Billing Supervisor, Patient Service Representative, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Supply Manager and Allied Health Instructor.

The Associate in Applied Science, Health Studies - Pre-Nursing Option is designed to offer students interested in working within the health care field an opportunity to attain the associate degree. Students acquiring this degree would be able to pursue advancement opportunities within varied health care settings.

The Health Care Management curriculum prepares students for management roles in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Once focused on episodes of treatment for acute disease, the healthcare industry now emphasizes lifelong health maintenance and wellness promotion.

The Nursing Associate Degree program prepares students to work as entry-level nurses in doctors’ offices, acute care and rehabilitation settings, long-term care facilities, ambulatory and community centers, medical centers, and hospitals, among others. The applied science portion of the program has two major components: the theory/didactic/lab component and the clinical externship component.

An Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Coding and Billing Systems prepares individuals for a career in the health care industry as coding and billing specialists. Students will gain knowledge in health record maintenance, medical insurance processes, and healthcare classification systems. Students will also learn computer application skills, interpersonal coding, and billing procedures.

The Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Technology degree program is designed to enable graduates to enter various fields of the industry after completing two years of study. Graduates may also elect to continue their education in the four-year Industrial Technology Program. Graduates of the two-year curriculum will be awarded the degree of Associate of Applied Science.

The Associate of Applied Science Program at Southwest University at El Paso is a 16-term program of study that prepares the student to provide patient centered care, to act as a safety advocate for the patient, to become a member of the nursing profession and healthcare team in various healthcare settings and builds confidence in the student as they embark on the journey of becoming a professional nurse.

This program is designed to prepare students seeking employment in health administration. Students will understand the principles and practice of health care regarding administration, management, law, economics, and policy.

The Peninsula College Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Medical Office Assisting program provides training for adults seeking employment in the administrative areas of medical offices, clinics, hospitals, home health, extended care facilities, and other healthcare settings. Graduates are likely to find employment in these areas, while advanced degrees may provide access to a wider range of career opportunities in healthcare. Technology skills are integrated to prepare students for medical office employees, including electronic medical billing and coding, bookkeeping and accounting, and charting in patient records.

X-ray technologists or radiographers operate X-ray equipment to generate diagnostic images of the human body. They perform radiologic examinations independently as well as assisting radiologists or other physicians to meet their imaging needs. They work in hospitals, medical imaging centers, and clinics. X-ray technologists have a comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. They are educated in patient care. And they are educated about the hazards of ionizing radiation so that they can perform their tasks in a safe, responsible, and professional manner. This 2-year program leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Science, as well as a certificate of completion.

The Associate of Applied Sciences in Medical Assisting (AASMA) was designed to meet the demands of a continuously evolving healthcare market. By intensifying and expanding the training, the AASMA Graduate will be competent not only as a Medical Assistant, but also in the areas of Phlebotomy, Electrocardiography, and advanced Patient Care.

An Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology prepares individuals for a career in the health care industry as Medical Laboratory Technicians. These laboratory professionals assist in the coordination of clinical laboratory activities, including timely and cost-effective testing of patient samples and lab equipment maintenance.

To qualify for the Associate in Science in Health Sciences degree, students must satisfactorily complete the Degree Major requirements specified below and the local AA/ AS General Education requirements.

The AAS degree in Emergency Medical & Health Services requires the completion of the Paramedic certificate (69 credits) and an additional 42 credits of required degree courses. With the exception of EMC 200, students may take all of the required degree courses in advance of the Paramedic certificate program. With TCC's EMHS AAS degree, you'll have the option to work as a Paramedic. You'll also have the option to go further along this career pathway. The EMHS AAS degree prepares you to transfer into Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) programs, such as TCC's Community Health BAS program.

The Medical Assistant program prepares students as multi-skilled health care workers who function as assistants to physicians and other health care professionals in a variety of ambulatory care settings. The responsibilities of the medical assistant include administrative and clinical duties.
