Geologic science is the science of the earth. It is an organized body of knowledge about the earth or planet on which we live - about the mountains, the plains, the oceans, and the atmosphere. It studies the effects of geologic hazards, such as earthquakes, landslides, floods, and volcanic eruptions. It also addresses the ways to conserve and protect the world's fragile geologic environment. Planetary science concerns itself with the study of the origin of galaxies and the universe, along with the laws which order these systems and bodies.

Daytona State College sponsors a full-time radiography program. Radiography, AS program completion leads to an Associate of Science Degree in Radiography. Program graduates are eligible for national certification/registration in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and appropriate state licensure.

Students can achieve an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Coastal Science and GIS Technology by enrolling in the required 15 hours of related general education courses in Math, Composition, History, and Social Science.

The Earth/Physical Science department offers courses in astronomy, geology, and physical science. These courses are intended for students who wish to pursue a degree in teaching and those who wish to major in geology.

The Associate in Science (AS), Emphasis in Geography - Meteorology provides the first two years of a four-year curriculum for students who intend to transfer to a four-year institution to study meteorology and/or climatology. This associate degree will prepare students for employment opportunities in several careers, including forest and conservation workers and air traffic controllers.

The Geomatics Technology program is a course of study that prepares students to use mathematical and scientific principles for the delineation, determination, planning, and positioning of land tracts, boundaries, contours, and features applying principles of route surveying, construction surveying, photogrammetry, mapping, global positioning systems, geographical information systems, and other kinds of property description and measurement to create related maps, charts, and reports.

This program provides students with entry-level skills for a career in hydrology. Hydrologic Technicians work closely with Professional Hydrologists and or Professional Engineers. The value of the Hydrologic Technicians degree to the hydrology profession is demonstrated every day as they collect data in all weather conditions and environments, ensures the proper collection of more uniform and reliable data.

Precision Agriculture Technology is a comprehensive program that provides a solid background in high-tech practices, equipment, and software utilized in production agriculture.
