The Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) certificate program prepares individuals either for initial employment or for enhancement of existing skills in the electronics field or for transfer into B.S. programs in Electronics Technology or Industrial Technology offered in the CSU system. Students completing the ECET certificate program possess ample skills to make them versatile employees.

The Industrial Electronics Technology Program provides entry-level skills in basic core competencies desired by the industry today. This program prepares students for work in the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems in industrial, scientific, and commercial facilities. The program also provides specific training in basic computer hardware and software, programmable logic controllers, motors and motor control systems, three-phase power distribution, and human-machine interface and programming. Graduates are prepared to pursue jobs in areas such as automated manufacturing, electrical power distribution, protection systems, and other electrically-related fields.

In this program, you will learn to build, evaluate, test, troubleshoot, service, and repair electronic devices, from the component level to the system level. The program offers four pathways: Applications, Avionics, Mechatronics, and Biomedical Equipment.

The Computer and Electronics Technology (C&ET) A.A.S. degree program provides graduates with skills in two areas: information technology and electronics. Our Electronics Engineering Technology program prepares individuals to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment, and systems. The Electronics Engineering Technology Program provides students the skills necessary to analyze and troubleshoot electronic systems. Students are provided the academic knowledge and hands-on experience needed to perform operations on industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, communication systems, and power electronic systems. Students will learn how to read, interpret, and employ electronic schematics (both component and functional block diagrams) in the installation and maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic circuits and systems. A broad-based core of courses, including basic electricity, circuit theory, instrumentation, soldering and fabrication, solid-state fundamentals, analog and data communications, digital concepts, and microprocessors, ensures that students will develop the skills necessary to perform entry-level tasks. Emphasis is placed on providing students the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles and concepts associated with electronic circuits and systems, as well as the safe operation of test/repair equipment.

This electronics program is designed to give students a strong background in the fundamentals of electricity, electronic devices, and basic circuits (digital and linear). The curriculum includes laboratory demonstration of the principles taught in class affording practical experience in fabrication, instrumentation, and presentation.

The Computer Engineering Technology program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for computer industry positions that address both computer hardware and software. Students are prepared for entry-level positions that may involve the testing, troubleshooting, repairing or installation of a variety of computer and networked systems. Other positions may include assisting engineers in the design and building of computer systems. Graduates of this program are well prepared to continue their education in Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology programs.
