10 Computing Associate of Applied Science Programs

The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science enables students to learn computing and mathematics, analyse problems, and identify correct computing solutions using current tools, techniques, and skills.

This Certificate of Applied Science in Network Technology will introduce students to the design, implementation, and management of linked systems of computers, and peripherals, to maximize efficiency and productivity and prepare individuals to function as network generalist.

The Las Positas Computer Science department offers a course that leads to an Associate of Science in Computer Science degree designed to prepare students to transfer into a baccalaureate program in Computer Science or a related field.

The Computer Information Science program is designed to prepare students to succeed or enhance their careers in select, high-demand, information technology fields.

The landscape of job opportunities in today’s world is changing with new computer and information technology fields emerging as others become obsolete. Information science focuses on identifying, understanding, and resolving problems through established and developing technologies.

The Cyber Technician Program is designed to prepare students for entry into the industry of installing, maintaining, and repairing computers, enterprise, and small office networks and cybersecurity systems. The program prepares students for the CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ Certification examinations. These exams measure the knowledge and skills expected of entry-level technicians. The CompTIA certifications are recognized throughout the country as the industry standard.

The Computer Science department is affiliated with the Mathematics department and is based in two well-equipped rooms comprising 18 laptops and 18 desktop PCs connected to the college LAN. The department offers courses to students in the Lower School.

This program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the computer repair and networking fields.
