The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration is designed for students seeking a broad program of study in all phases of business practices. This degree focuses not only on the core of management (principles of management, organizational behavior, and personnel administration) but also encompasses the critical areas of business operations (principles of marketing, accounting, and business law).

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T in Business Administration) provides a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Business Administration. The curriculum provides essential knowledge and skills in the financial, management, and marketing facets of the business. Students can pursue their interest in several specialized areas of business (global business, human resources management, project management, and business computing) through their choice of business electives.

The Associate of Science Business Administration degree program is 60 semester hours in duration. The program is made up of two components. The first consists of 24 semester credit hours of general education. All of the courses are required. The coursework in the general education component is designed to be broad-based and consists of coursework in areas such as the social sciences, mathematics, economics, English, and psychology. The second component is made up of 36 semester credit hours that provide a core of business management courses that are required for all students within the program. This business core component provides a strong emphasis on management, business law, ethics, human resources, marketing, advertising, and accounting among other business-related areas of study.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T) is intended for students planning to transfer to a CSU with a major in Business Administration. Students completing this degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system.

The Associate of Science degree program prepares you for Entry to Mid-Level Management positions in Administrative Services, Hospitality, Sales, Marketing, General Business, and Human Resources Management.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T) degree is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer to the California State University (CSU) system. Successful completion of the degree affords students specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system, such as admission to a CSU with junior status, priority admission to their local CSU campus, and to a program or major in business administration or similar major.

The Business Administration AS Degree program specifically provides core courses for the business student seeking a terminal degree. The curriculum includes the core elements and skills necessary to acquire gainful employment in a wide variety of industries. The curriculum targets the following personal skills which are woven into courses throughout the curriculum: communication, teamwork, law, technology, accounting, finance, critical thinking and adapting to change. The Business Administration degree emphasizes both practical and fundamental business knowledge necessary to enter into the workforce.

The Business Administration program gives students general business knowledge in managerial controls, economics of business, human resources (personnel), labor relations, business risks, interaction of government and business law, production and distribution. They provide the foundations for areas of specialization, such as accounting, finance, or marketing management.

HCCC's Associate in Science in Business Administration prepares graduates for a seamless transfer to a senior institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in business-related fields. Graduates of this degree are also qualified for entry-level administrative and management positions. The program provides business knowledge and skills as the foundation for more specialized and/or advanced study.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer Degree will help students develop communications, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will also learn how to convey ideas skillfully and effectively in writing and presentations. Students who successfully complete the AS-T in Business Administration earn specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU with junior status and priority admission to a local CSU campus and to a program or major in business administration or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.

The Business Administration program provides students with the necessary courses to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree in business. This curriculum is fully compliant with Pennsylvania Statewide Program-to-Program Articulation Agreement (TAOC) as stated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

This program prepares the student to supervise or manage a cosmetology salon with multiple employees. They will also be capable of hiring, training, and motivating employees of a cosmetology business. They will also have the skills to evaluate customer needs and provide services to meet customer needs and expectations. They will be capable of operating their own business or managing the business for a salon owner.
