Our vascular technology program will prepare you for a career as a vascular technologist, vascular sonographer, or cardiovascular technologist. You will learn how to operate high-tech sonography equipment, perform vascular tests on patients to find abnormalities, and develop a clinical understanding of major vascular diseases and disorders.

The Ophthalmology Technician Program has been designed to prepare a student to assist ophthalmologists in detecting, diagnosing, and treating ailments and diseases of the eye. The student will become well acquainted with the development and structures of the human eye, the way it functions, internally and externally, and will get familiar with the different ophthalmic diseases regarding etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment.

The Surgical Technology Program has been designed to train students to work with surgical teams as surgical technologists. This program covers all foundational competencies required to successfully understand the needs of surgical technologists in the surgical room and the material required for the certification exam. In this accredited program, you’ll learn to prepare operating equipment with the latest aseptic techniques, assist during surgeries, and safely care for surgical patients alongside surgeons and nurses. When you complete the program, you will qualify to take the National Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists to become a certified surgical technologist (CST).

Biomedical Engineering Technology appeals to students desiring to be technical, and, at the same time, devote their careers to saving lives by helping doctors, nurses, and patients. Graduates become biomedical technicians who maintain, repair and calibrate electronic medical instruments used in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. To advance in these careers, students develop interpersonal, management, communications and leadership skills.

The objective of the Surgical Technology degree is to offer the student an opportunity to become an integral member of the surgical team as well as an allied health professional. This program will utilize a combination of classroom, lab, and clinical experiences to facilitate student learning. Multiple teaching delivery methods will cover concepts such as; the principles of asepsis, the application of sterile technique, and surgical pharmacology. Students will demonstrate competency knowledge of perioperative case management prior to entering a clinical internship. The clinical experience will continue the education of the student by offering hands-on surgical patient care through multiple surgical service specialties. Students will work under the auspice of the surgeon as well as the surgical team to gain the scrub experience required for eligibility to sit for the national CST (Certified Surgical Technologist exam) credentialing exam offered through the NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).

The biomedical engineering technologist (BMET) program is designed to develop technicians able to maintain and service medical electronic equipment in hospitals, pathological and hematological laboratories, and industries engaged in the manufacture and sale of medical electronic equipment.

This program prepares students to gain employment in a research and development division of a biotechnology company or manufacturing setting or transfer to a four-year institution. Successful completion of this program allows students to participate in relevant, hypothesis-driven research, providing students with both the scientific and practical research skills they will use in the workplace.
