This program focuses on the principles and techniques of communicating information, ideas and emotion through digital and film photography. The goal is to prepare individuals for careers in photographic and hotographyrelated fields. This includes instruction in: camera operation and maintenance, use and maintenance of all photographically-related equipment, selection of camera equipment, digital and film media, printing media, film developing, light and composition, color and special effects, photography as art, the history of photography, and the use of computer applications to refine and organize photographic images.

The Game Development specialization is intended to prepare students for a career or further study in game development. Courses emphasize the specific skills necessary for the design, development, marketing and testing of computer games. Industry standard programming languages and development tools are utilized in this specialization.

The Web Development specialization is designed for students interested in pursuing a career as a web professional. Completion of this program option will provide students with the skills needed for entry-level positions as web designers/developers. Concepts covered include information design, network administration, database management, interface design, and programming.

Our photography program is an intensive two-year study of visual communications. You’ll learn the fundamentals of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling; practice your artistic and technical skills in studios and technology labs; and explore current trends and career opportunities in photography and digital media production.

The Photographic Technology, AS program offers the technical instruction and theoretical knowledge in photography to assist graduates in successfully entering the commercial, editorial, advertising, fine arts, and photo technology fields. Coursework covers digital photography and videography as well as the medium’s history and aesthetics to prepare photographers as visual communicators.

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Illustration and Sequential Art is designed for the student who wishes to develop an area of specialization in illustration and comics and sequential art.

This associate of applied science degree will provide students with foundational skills for game design and development.

Similar to the web and interactive media certificate, this degree provides students with the web development, technical programming, and graphic design skills necessary to build web and multimedia sites. In addition, it includes capstone courses that develop creative and practical skills beyond what is taught in the certificate program, as well as coursework that meets the general education requirements for a Schoolcraft associate in applied science (AAS) degree. The degree strengthens the student’s position in the profession and gives the student an academic credential with a higher standing.

Five concentrations are offered for Studio Art and Design students who wish to focus on specific media in their degree program. These concentrations are listed on the following page, along with courses required for completion.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Software Developer/Game Design provides a degree alternative to students interested in programming, database administration, and introductory game development.

Associate in Science in Arts and Sciences This is a suggested course sequence only. Students may, with guidance from an Academic Advisor as well as a Faculty Advisor, make changes to their specific course sequence. The student should be aware that changes may result in more than four semesters to complete their desired Associates Degree. Academic placement is determined either by ACT results or placement exams. FALL SEMESTER 1 FALL SEMESTER 2 SPRING SEMESTER 1 SPRING SEMESTER 2 The Associate in Science in Arts and Sciences degree gives students a broad knowledge base in communications, humanities, social science, quantitative reasoning, and science. Upon completion of the A.S. in Arts and Sciences, students will be prepared for further undergraduate study at the bachelor's level and the contemporary workforce.

This major provides a focused course of study for students in preparation for careers as designers of architectural projects and potential licensure as architects. Emphasis is placed on project visualization, industry-standard drawing techniques and conventions, computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills, and the specific preparation of architectural building plans. Additionally, the integral coursework includes a focus on the official code requirements necessary for residential and commercial building projects. The curriculum also includes introductory coursework in the associated fields of project engineering and construction. As a degree (in contrast to a certificate), this program requires the completion of general education courses; however, if transfer to a university for a baccalaureate or advanced degree is desired, interested students should carefully consider the specific admission and transfer requirements for individual colleges and universities. This program is not designed to fulfill the most common requirements for transfer to a university in architecture; please refer to the Associate of Science Degree in Architecture for such preparation.

The Computer and Information Technology program prepares students for careers in one of the nation's fastest-growing fields. Students can earn a certificate and/or an associate of applied science degree in one of four specialties, each focused on a different set of skills and interests within the IT field.
