21 Applied Computer Science Associate of Applied Science Programs

BMCC’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Associate of Applied Science Degree is designed to teach and train students in a variety of Information Technology disciplines.

The Computer & Information Systems option leads to the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Computer Science.

The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking Systems program prepares students to seek careers in computer networking. Networking specialists plan, coordinate, and implement an organization’s networking systems.

The Computer Information Science program is designed to prepare students to succeed or enhance their careers in select, high-demand, information technology fields.

The Blinn College District Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science provides students with the general education, mathematics, and science courses normally taken in the first two years of a computer science program at a four-year college or university while providing flexibility for individual interests.

An Associate of Science with an emphasis in Computer Science is a transfer degree intended to provide students with an overwhelming majority of the first two years’ coursework required for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science enables students to learn computing and mathematics, analyse problems, and identify correct computing solutions using current tools, techniques, and skills.

The Associate of Science in Computer Science degree program prepares students for entry-level positions in the computing field, with particular emphases placed on software development. The skills taught include programming logic, object-oriented programming, applications development, database applications, security concepts, and network and computer architecture.

Achieving success as a computer programmer isn't only about the code. Employers need programmers who can also troubleshoot and communicate effectively.

Computer Science is designed for students who wish to enter the multifaceted field of computers with an emphasis in fundamental principles in the applications of computer technology and the theory of computing.

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Computer Science provides students with an understanding of the theory that underlies the existence, organization and applications of computers. This program equips students to continue their education in the computer science field or to enter the workforce. Upon successful completion, graduates can seamlessly transfer into baccalaureate programs at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Mercy College.

This program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the computer repair and networking fields.

The Computer Science department is affiliated with the Mathematics department and is based in two well-equipped rooms comprising 18 laptops and 18 desktop PCs connected to the college LAN. The department offers courses to students in the Lower School.

The Computer Information Systems - Database Specialist program is a sequence of courses designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and techniques required in computer information processing.

The Game Development specialization is intended to prepare students for a career or further study in game development. Courses emphasize the specific skills necessary for the design, development, marketing and testing of computer games. Industry standard programming languages and development tools are utilized in this specialization.
