An Associate of Science in Accounting gives students the foundation they need for entry-level employment in the accounting department of any business or to become a Certified Public Accountant(CPA). It prepares students to pursue a career in finance or corporate management, to work in government, or to become business owners. It also fulfills some of the requirements for the AS-T in Business Administration degree designed to transfer to accounting programs at California State University (CSU) campuses.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting prepares students to enter the Accounting profession at an Accounting Technician position.

Whatcom’s accounting and finance program offer two-degree options: an associate of science (AS) in accounting (90-94 credits) and an associate of science (AS) in finance (92-96 credits).

The Associate of Applied Science in Accounting Concentration: Business, A.A.S. is designed to prepare students for employment in public, private, and governmental accounting as a paraprofessional.

The Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Accounting prepares the student to record and post transactions, prepare to adjust entries and financial statements, perform general accounting operations, process accounting information using a microcomputer to produce various accounting records, and maintain books for municipalities, state, and government agencies.
