The Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission approves the nursing program, and the program is accredited by National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation. Students who complete the two-year associate degree program are eligible to take national board exams for registered nurses. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in applied and social sciences and an understanding of the fundamentals of patient care in a variety of settings. Throughout the program, students integrate experience caring for patients in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community agencies. Successful completion of this program leads to an Associate in Nursing, Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (DTA/MRP). Students with this degree need only to complete senior-level courses at select universities in the state of Washington to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA, The Watergate, 2600 Virginia Ave, NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20037).

This transfer degree is intended to prepare students for licensure as a registered nurse, as well as for entry into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) completion degree. Although this associate's degree will be granted to SVC nursing students with a cumulative 3.0 GPA, entry into a BSN program may require a higher GPA for admission. Minimum GPA requirements are established by each receiving institution. Meeting SVC’s minimum GPA requirements does not guarantee admission into a BSN program.
