Students will learn to work effectively in groups and interact cooperatively in order to explore, research, and share with peers their knowledge and beliefs of selected personal, social, and environmental health issues. Students will demonstrate through written expression, oral discussion, and argument their attitudes and beliefs of social health issues, supported by research, evidence, and logical reasoning. Classes are offered online and on-campus to appeal to a wide array of students.

A major in Allied Health prepares students for further study, certification, and employment in a variety of allied health careers such as nursing, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, In addition to these diagnostic and therapeutic fields, students will also be prepared to pursue further education and training in a variety of non-clinical support services, public health and health administration careers.

Gateway Technical College’s Nursing associate degree program is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing and includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical experiences in local hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The degree program is offered at the Kenosha and Burlington Campuses but students can also take classes online. Courses include anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, psychology and other behavioral sciences.

Students transferring to a non-CSU campus should consult the catalog and determine the specific campus requirements to which they are applying. The study of Nutrition provides a broad foundation in practical and personally applicable exposure to various scientific areas of nutrition, such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology. Students in the program learn how the scientific method and process contribute to nutritional requirements and how nutrients function from a cellular to a more practical level and then apply this knowledge to their health. This program will help the student understand the relationship between nutrition and disease prevention throughout life.

The AS-T major in Nutrition & Dietetics prepares students for transfer into bachelor's degree programs in Nutrition, Dietetics and similar fields.

The Radiologic Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum leading to an AS degree and qualifications for employment in medical facilities throughout the country. Students participate in classroom instruction and clinical education in our affiliated hospitals. Program graduates must take the licensure examination required by the State of California and the certification examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist program focuses on assessing neurological disorders using diagnostic techniques. You’ll receive hands-on training in clinical rotations in Electroencephalography, Nerve Conduction Studies, Evoked Potentials, Polysomnography, and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring, promoting practical experience.

Firefighters provide a special service to the community, protecting people and their property with fire prevention and protection efforts.
