The hospitality and tourism industry is booming and our travel school program can make you a part of it all. Train to become an expert travel consultant, cruise or tour agent, tour guide, hotel staff member, or airline reservation and ticket agent. Prepare to work in any part of the tourism industry by earning a one-year certificate, a two-year degree, or even a transfer degree, which would allow you to transfer to select university programs to earn a bachelor’s degree. The Associate of Science degree in Hospitality Management provides the marketable skills necessary for upward success in the hospitality and restaurant industry. Graduates learn hospitality theory and functional, hands-on skills necessary to supervise and manage successfully in this dynamic industry. The Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Management develops knowledge and skills in the baking and pastry field in this hands-on program. Supporting courses cover a range of topics, including hospitality supervision, catering, food service sanitation, purchasing, and management cost controls.

If you want to take your love of cooking to the next level, a career in culinary arts might be right for you. You’ll learn how to prepare soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts as well as sauces, side dishes, and salads. You’ll learn what it takes to coordinate and direct the work of kitchen staff – everything from menu planning and buying supplies to final presentation. In addition, you may manage budgets and coordinate food preparation with service. Whether you want to work at a local café or own your own fine dining establishment, this program (offered in a standard or accelerated format) will give you the foundation you need.

Located just north of Seattle, the Edmonds Community College Culinary Arts program is a full-time program that provides hands-on training and skills to begin work, or refine your skills, in the restaurant industry. The program’s curriculum is built around running a restaurant on campus, The College Cafe. Students participate in each station in the restaurant learning classical cooking techniques, its modern application, and global cuisines. Students also have classroom-based coursework that explores cooking methodology, managing restaurants, and culinary aspects of agriculture, health and nutrition.

The Culinary Arts (CUL) program is among the few culinary programs accredited by the prestigious American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF). Course content emphasizes “hands-on” lab work and a variety of flexible teaching techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles. Emphasis is placed on the necessity for the modern culinary professional to understand global food trends and international flavor principles in a working environment sensitive to cultural and general differences.
