7 English Associate Programs

Students majoring in English choose from an assortment of courses in analytical and creative composition, literature of the United States and the world, and film studies.

The Associate of Art in English for Transfer (AA-T) is designed for students planning to transfer into the English major at a California State University. A student pursuing this degree will meet the AB 1440 Transfer Curriculum Model for CSU.

The English Department offers classes addressing English skills at the basic, developmental, and transfer levels. We are committed to presenting engaging material that addresses the varied interests and needs of our students. We are focused on helping students achieve their transfer requirements, and offering the necessary critical thinking and composition, and reading courses required by 4-year transfer institutions.

English majors study composition, critical thinking, literature, linguistics, and creative writing. English majors learn to analyze and interpret diverse texts and construct logical, well-supported arguments and literary analyses.

The associate of arts degree program provides students with a broad academic education to prepare them for the workplace and for upper-level university study. The degree requirements for the associate of arts may be met through LCCC’s university transfer courses or by taking university transfer courses at other recognized colleges and/or universities. Select from the general education/transfer module: Arts and humanities; English composition; Mathematics/statistics/logic and natural sciences.

The associate of science degree program provides students with a broad academic education to prepare them for the workplace and for upper-level university study. The degree requirements for the associate of science may be met through LCCC’s university transfer courses or by taking university transfer courses at other recognized colleges and/or universities. Since requirements at transfer institutions vary widely, students should consult the catalog of the transfer institution and plan their program with an advisor.
