Concordia University, St. Paul's fully online, CAEP-Accredited Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education can be completed in as little as two years with transfer credits and gives you the social and physical child development knowledge you need to pursue a career as an educator. Our 64-credit-hour associate degree in early childhood education also meets the standards of the Child Development Associate National Credentialing program, which assures high quality and educational innovation.

The Early Childhood Education program of study prepares students to work with young children in a variety of early care and education settings. Graduates will be able to provide high-quality educational environments that are inclusive of all children ages birth to 9. They will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to provide a developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and inclusive early learning experience.

Two types of certifications are awarded, Generalist (G) or Specialist (S), depending on the liberal arts major. Students wishing to extend their childhood education certification complete a major in one of the following areas: English (S), History (S), or Life Sciences (G).
