25 Construction Associate Programs

Successful completion of the Associate in Arts in Construction Technology prepares students for entry into the construction trades, which require a technical skill and understanding of construction processes. Students planning on transferring to a four-year school should complete the AA Degree, which includes the 39-unit general education sequence of courses. Specific four-year institutions may require additional courses in the major to fulfill lower division requirements. This degree may not transfer to all universities, and students need to inquire of the universities if they have a bachelors degree for their upper division course work. A grade of "C" or better is required in all major, certificate and major elective courses.

Gateway Technical College’s Civil Engineering Technology – Fresh Water Resources associate degree program helps students learn civil engineering design and construction, coupled with advanced education in specific areas of environmental assessment, water treatment, stormwater management, and erosion control.

Are you ready to move up to project manager or supervisor in residential, commercial, or industrial construction? This program will give you the necessary skills to determine the human, physical and financial resources necessary for project activities. You’ll learn to control costs, manage documents and supervise others to be an effective project manager.

As an industrial welding technician, you assist engineers, supervisors, and journey workers in the production of quality welded and metal fabricated parts. You will learn how to provide technical assistance in the planning, development, and implementation of a production cycle.

Environmental Control Technology is a technical program offering the theoretical, technical, and problem-solving skills essential for employment in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry. Students completing the suggested curriculum can seek employment as refrigeration technicians, heating, ventilation, air conditioning technicians, and building engineers and technicians.

This program offers the students the opportunity to learn the academic, occupational, communication, and technical training skills needed by entry-level technicians in the residential and commercial Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry. Students completing these courses will develop multiple skills that include real-world knowledge of Air conditioning and refrigeration theory and application, and equipment tools.

The Welding Technology (WT) program prepares students to work as entry-level welders, fitters, or metal fabricators in a variety of industries including boat-building, construction, industrial maintenance, and manufacturing. Students study a variety of layout, fabrication, and metal joining techniques using steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Processes include oxyfuel cutting, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
